Reid Hits Pause Button on Immigration
The New York Times ^ | April 13, 2010 | CARL HULSE

Senator Harry Reid retreated today from having the Senate move quickly on immigration law changes, saying any overhaul would have to wait.

“We won’t get to immigration reform this work period,” Mr. Reid, Democrat of Nevada  and the majority leader, told reporters after the private weekly luncheon of Democratic senators.

Over the weekend, Mr. Reid raised the hopes of immigration advocates by suggesting at a rally in Las Vegas that he was ready to put immigration on the legislative front burner now that health care legislation was out of the way and Congress was returning from a two-week break.

“We’re going to come back, we’re going to have comprehensive immigration reform now,” he said in a speech to more than 6,000 people, mostly immigrants.

The declaration caught lawmakers and Obama administration officials off guard since the politically dicey subject was not on the immediate agenda.

Reid says something different to the crowd to get them stoked than what he actually intended? Gosh!

Knowing how truthful Harry Reid has been in the past, I would say that this means it is full steam ahead with their plan to steal our nation.

You have to do fifteen double-takes to realize that it’s the same guy that said in another interview that democrats would do immigration reform the same way they did health reform.

Don’t believe him. Don’t trust him.

An executive order is not out of the realm of possibility.

Odd. Just knowing how they shoved universal healthcare down everyones throat (Congress and citizens) I would have thought they would steamroll ahead before the elections. Just so in the off chance that they LOST seats, lots of seats.

Then again like Stupak and other little quixotic things ... maybe this is to lull everyone into another stupor. Then they’ll slap us with the two-by-4 called AMNESTY!

With the real unemployment about 20%

Just stealing the jobs Americans used to have

I bet that will be a huge big seller. Just what we need more low income, ignorant workers.

In reality, the immigration wait could be significantly longer since the Senate in the summer will be contending with a Supreme Court vacancy and the members of the Judiciary Committee who will be involved also have jurisdiction over immigration law.

That leaves the lame duck session, where defeated Dems can punch their ticket back into office two years hence with 20 million Amnesty votes. How convenient.

Dangle that carrot, Harry. Dangle that carrot.
