Bush’s AF1 pilot made a similar point. You cannot just divert to another airport Schedules are made down to the minute and they have to be kept.

Whatever else you might think of Putin and Russian leaders, they simply are not stupid enough to have any sort of a hand in this one. There is no possible benefit to them which could justify the risk.

LOL, yeah, the decapitation of the entire conservative Polish government, including the heads of their entire military, their secretary of state, their lead banker, many members of congress and, of course, the president, couldn't possibly have any benefit whatsoever to Russia - not over the spread of communism, not over missile shields, not over petroleum reserves, not over investment allocations, nothing.

Is that what they teach trolls now, just to write outright insane reversals of common sense, and see if it sticks? What is that, some kind of super-reverso psyop - the "insult their intelligence until they beg for mercy" plan?

Sheesh.

This simply does not pass the smell test at this point.

Not at all.

Especially since all of that fog occured in 60% humidity with no groundwater nearby, and those dastardly plane-snatching trees were only 50 feet high and separated by a half mile from the runway.

tampering with ILS? Wrong altitude? spoofed GPS?

Or simply shot down?

Still smells wrong. Too quick judgement, reports do not match between sources and too much to gain to rule out Puttie.

What I want to know is it possible to take control of a plane similar to how a car can be stop by remote control?

You would not have to take control of the plane if the instruments indicated incorrect altitude and glide path.

Pilot could fly by the artificial horizon, right into the trees or ground. Has been done before.

Not saying that is what happened, but all are making judgements of pilot error, dangerous judgement by Pres and other answers before anything is analyzed.

Does not pass smell test.

We shall see if credibility increases, but I am not trusting at this point.

RIP His Excellency Lech Kaczynski, President of the Republic of Poland, 1949-2010.

Polish President Kaczynski was nationalist, pro-US

RIP, and děkujeme, pan Kaczyński!

If you fly a perfectly good airplane into a forest, there aren’t any technical issues.

I dunno, but I suppose anything’s possible. I have read one theory of the Ron Brown plane crash that claimed the real landing marker lights were turned off, and decoy lights placed on a mountain were lit, and the pilot flew the plane right into the mountain, resulting in the crash.

They could have messed with the landing strip lights to throw the pilot off. There is no independent verification that several attempts to land the plane were made.

And of course, there is the TWA Fl.800 plane that was allegedly shot down with a surface to air missile- and all witness accounts were discarded by the Clinton admin. investigation. How do we know the plane wasn’t really brought down by the Ruskies?

The whole thing stinks, imo.

Exactly.

And Putin personally heading the investigation is like Obama taking over an investigation of voter fraud and intimidation.

Especially that last one. Thanks AdmSmith. It's way past time for Russia to get out of occupied eastern Poland.
