THE United States will retire its sea-based nuclear Tomahawk missiles within a few years, believing it has other ways to defend North-east Asia, a Pentagon official said on Wednesday.
The elimination of the missile - supported in the past by some policymakers in Japan and South Korea - was part of a policy shift announced on Tuesday by President Barack Obama's administration to reduce the role of nuclear weapons.
'The timeline for its retirement will be over the next two to three years,' James Miller, the principal deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, told a news conference.
He said that the United States had held 'extensive consultations' with US allies including Japan and South Korea about the decision to retire the nuclear Tomahawk, known in military jargon as the TLAM-N.
'We reached a point of mutual confidence that the TLAM-N was a redundant system not necessary for effective, extended deterrence for North-east Asia,' Mr Miller said. He said that the United States had other nuclear-capable systems including intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launches ballistic missiles.
'If we think about systems that are potentially forward-deployable, they also include our tactical aircraft and they include our heavy bombers as well,' Mr Miller said

So, essentially, we are putting our eggs in fewer baskets. That’s a good national security strategy...

This is EXACTLY why you vote in November.
I (responsible) Republican Congress can STOP THIS MADNESS.
Of course if we stay home, or vote 3rd party, since “there’s no difference between the parties”...then our defense quickly disappears, and we BE CERTAIN that Americans will again be dying in large numbers, in combat.

Dear Leader has already decided that America
will not fight back when its cities are burning
and covered in biochemical weapon debris.

Instead of Tomahawk missiles, can’t we please retire the Commander at Chief, as he refers to himself?

we are putting our eggs in fewer baskets.
Drip...Drip...Drip...
Watch for the Eggs to be eliminated unilaterally just a few at a time... If Obama wins reelection, he will play this game of reverse brinkmanship to complete disarmament. The news isn't going to come all at once. Remember when he told Joe The Plumber that redistributing wealth was 'Good For Everyone?' Well, he wasn't lying. Obama said he envisions a World Without Nuclear weapons. We should take him seriously at least on the part of disaming us. He knows that we are going to be first so that we can gain a 'moral advantage.' over those countries which choose to remain armed.
Obama is purposefully dismantling and destroying everything that keeps us in a position of power and dominance. He's 'redistributing' the entire geopolitical paradigm.

"Wonder if China is thinking whether this would be the ideal time to take back Taiwan?" If they're smart the ChiComms will attack Taiwan soon while the grabbing is good. The Obama Regime will do nothing. The will be the the ChiCom price for buying our debt.

Agreed - none of what he is doing is necessary - it is un-American - we are the United States - the beacon on the hill. If he is trying to lower our world status what other county is going to take the lead as the protector of the weak? No one - we will be crushed like they would and no one will come to our rescue......I am sickened on a daily basis by the actions of this president.
