So what would you Freepers have me do with my relatives ... bring them to New York for a show trial?

Hmm. Don’t capture them alive - problem solved.

TV movie on the way...poor, undereducated Pirate adopted by a middle class white family...he then kills them in their sleep and takes all of their money and goes into the drug business big-time in LA...
Probably not, huh?

Is this a catch and release program?

NO! Put them on trial at sea and bury them at sea. Letting them go is a waste of good work.

Actions speak louder than words. They have a catch and release policy.
This will only encourage piracy. Why not, if the worse that happens is that you have to throw your ladders overboard if caught.

I am pretty sure we owe them a new mother ship —

A U.S. Navy ship has sunk a pirate "mother ship" in the Indian Ocean and captured 11 pirates, and then promptly let them go. I certainly hope the Navy has plenty of JAG officers on board so the pirates can fill out and file their torts against the US Government quickly and conveniently.

Did we also reimburse them for sinking their ship - their only means of employment?

I see the Obama Administration is applying the same policy to pirates that has worked so well with illegal immigrants. /sarc

“A U.S. Navy ship has sunk a pirate “mother ship” in the Indian Ocean and captured 11 pirates, and then promptly let them go. It was the second time within 24 hours that U.S. forces captured Somali pirates. Earlier Thursday, five pirates were taken into custody after they attacked a U.S. warship.”
...Pirates, the very reason the US Navy was created in the first place...my how things have changed since that beginning...

If the country of the attacked ship does not want to prosecute the pirates, and if Kenya, which has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Naval forces, does not agree to prosecute them, there are few options as to where the suspected pirates can be held and tried. Ummmm ..... O.K. ...... I can possibly be persuaded to buy that.
Except for this .....
.... five pirates were taken into custody after they attacked a U.S. warship.
