This computerized axial tomography scan image shows the placement of a 14.5 mm high explosive incendiary round that was removed from the scalp of an Afghan National Army soldier March 18, 2010, at the Craig Joint Theater Hospital at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. The injury was sustained during an improvised explosive device attack.

I remember a grunt in Nam was hit by a M79 round that didn’t explode. Surgeons successfully removed it.
It had to go a certain distance before it self-armed.
