S. Africa: ANC urges followers to defy ban on song ["Kill the Boer"]

South Africa's ruling African National Congress has been accused of inciting the murder of white people after it urged the public to ignore a court ruling that an anti-apartheid song featuring the words “Kill the Boer” was “illegal hate speech”.

The struggle song, entitled Ayesaba Amagwala (The Cowards are Scared), was sung at political rallies during the time of racial segregation but was recently resurrected by Julius Malema, the leader of the ANC’s youth league at a student meeting.

But with the word Boer meaning farmer in Afrikaans, the murder of white farmers in rural areas on the increase and talk by the government of nationalising productive farms raising fears of a new Zimbabwe, his choice of anthem provoked an outcry.

A subsequent court ruling that the phrase was illegal has done little to dampen the row.

With the ANC insisting South Africans should ignore the ban and defend their cultural heritage, there are now accusations that it too is inciting violence.

Mr Malema, tipped by President Jacob Zuma as his heir apparent, has been labelled “an accessory to the wiping out of farmers in South Africa” by Freedom Front Plus, a party protecting the rights of Afrikaners.

Earlier this month, 29-year-old Mr Malema was found guilty of a hate crime after he said that a woman who accused Mr Zuma of rape “had a nice time” because she stayed for breakfast.

The ANC said the phrase dubul ibhunu (Kill the Boer) was a figurative reference to the injustices of apartheid in general rather than the Afrikaner community specifically and claimed it had been deliberately misinterpreted to incite “certain” communities.

But on Friday, South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg ruled that it was illegal and anyone using it

The term “boer” might mean farmer BUT the term Boer denotes a specific branch of Afrikaans speaking Caucasian descended folks who developed on the Cape frontier during the late 17th cent who are the smaller segment of the White Afrikaans speaking population. [ Cape Dutch descended Afrikaners being the larger segment under the imposed Afrikaner designation. ] The Boers were renown for having founded a number of independent [ two of whom were internationally recognized ] Boer Republics & for their brave defense of them during the second Anglo-Boer War. During the 20th cent the term Boer was removed from the public sphere by the Afrikaner Nationalists [ whom were mainly of non-Boer / ie: Cape Dutch descent ] & the term Boer was used as a general derogatory term by various non White people against the general White population.

White South Africa

Demographics

Statistics South Africa estimated that, as of July 2009[update], there were about 4,472,100 white people in South Africa, amounting to 9.1% of the country's population.[1] Roughly 59% of white South Africans speak Afrikaans as their mother language and about 39% speak English.[2] Speakers of Afrikaans refer to themselves as Afrikaners. Unlike the Afrikaners, the English speakers have not constituted a coherent political or cultural entity in South Africa. Hence, the absence of a commonly accepted term to designate them, although 'English South African' or 'English-speaking South African' is used (see Anglo-African).

Approximately 87% of white South Africans are Christian, 9% have no religion, and 1% are Jewish. The largest Christian denomination is the Dutch Reformed Church, with 34% of the white population being members. Other significant denominations are the Methodist Church (8%), the Roman Catholic Church (7%), and the Anglican Church (6%).[3]

All the liberals who opposed Apartheid in the 80s....all vestiges of civilization have just about vanished. All the Ivy League schools that put economic pressure on Pretoria and Johannesburg and the MSM, look what has happened to Africa! Why the black people are suffering too under the despotic leadership.

Can the same thing that happened in Africa happen here in the USA?

It is not so much a call for a bloodbath although if I was living in South Africa-I would probably think differently.

It is more of a way of rebelling against the man even when ANC is in charge. It is like Mao’s retarded concept of a constant revolution.

These people crave the power but not the responsibility that goes with it.

Perhaps all the whites and others who see where this is headed need to gather in one area, perhaps Cape Town, and prepare for battle.

Not quite. The Boers have very few actual Dutch roots as they are in fact mostly of German / Frisian / French Huguenot & Danish origin. The erstwhile named Cape Dutch [ ie: the bulk of the Afrikaners ] had a lot more Dutch roots though. The notion that the Boers were of Dutch origin stems directly from the fact that the VOC hid the Boers' ancestors true ethnicity behind the "Dutch" designation - just as Afrikaners often still hide the Boers' ethnicity behind the artificial Afrikaner designation. Afrikaner Nationalists & particularly the Broederbond rewrote the history of the Boers & lumped term in with the Afrikaners despite the fact that the Boers are an anthropologically distinct entity from the Afrikaners as the Boers developed on the Cape frontier long before the Cape Dutch population coalesced at the Western Cape. Most Westerners also often do not realize that the Boers were & are not White Colonials as they are in fact an indigenous homegrown group which developed on African soil out of the diverse groups the VOC dumped at the Cape & that they speak a homegrown language which developed [ as a lingua franca ] among the various folks there & is spoken not just by the Boers & the Afrikaners but by numerous mixed race groups as well & in fact got started as a distinct language because of the influence of the mixed race groups.

The Boers Were Not Colonials.

The Noted Distinction of Boers From Afrikaners.

The Afrikaner Domination of the Boers.

The Long Struggle For Boer Self Determination.

Population of the Boer Nation.

First interview TRP did with Theuns Cloete of Boervolk Radio.

Hendrik Verwoerd was not a friend of the Boer Nation.

True the Boers & Afrikaners are mostly Protestant but the Boers do not have as much Dutch heritage despite having quite a number of names spelled in a Dutch fashion because the VOC RESPELLED their names in such a fashion including numerous German & French names. Though quite a number of French names retained their original spelling. The Boers are still to this day largely misrepresented because the Afrikaner elite still seeks to speak on behalf of anyone whose home language is Afrikaans while the smaller Boer segment is routinely marginalized & stuck under a form of Afrikaner domination.

Apparently, the ANC has never heard of the phrase “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.” The Afrikaners and the English are the tie that binds that country together. They are the most educated, have the most capital, provide the food, the jobs, and built the cities and parks that create the flow of tourism.

On many levels, however, I do blame the Afrikaners of the past for the problems South Africa is plagued with today. The Dutch (and the English) had, in my mind, 2 basic options to create a long-lasting, stable country:

1. Through the process of attrition, lower the number of the host population through massive European immigration, war, deportation, subsidies for natives to undergo vasectomies/tubal ligation, etc. In a majority white South Africa, Apartheid would have been unnecessary.

2. Assimilate the host population, educate them to create common bonds of language, culture, religion, history, etc. Combine the two races into a metaphorical crucible to create a new country in which all have an equal footing. Again, Apartheid would be unnecessary if all races shared a common culture.

They tried neither. There is only so long a country can be run like a country club.

"The Dutch (and the English) had, in my mind, 2 basic options "

Sounds reasonable in hindsight. But the Africaners became outnumbered 9 to 1. There is no compromise with Communists. They won.

Now the Communists are hard pressed to distribute the wealth but the outcome is inevitable: Kenya at best, Zimbabwe at worst.
