Scores Feared Dead As Explosions Rock Moscow Train Stations

At least 40 people have been killed in two explosions on Moscow's metro system during the morning rush hour.

29 Mar 2010

The first explosion took place on a train while it was in the Lubyanka station in central Moscow, Irina Andrianova, the spokesman for the Russian emergencies ministry, told the ITAR-TASS news agency. An estimated 25 people were killed in the blast. The headquarters of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), successor to the Soviet-era KGB, is located just above the station.

"14 people died in the wagon of the train and 11 on the platform," she said. At least 10 people were wounded. The second blast hit the Park Kultury station at 0838 (0438 GMT), killing at least 15 people. Interfax quoted a Russian security source as saying a suicide bomber may have been responsible for the Lubyanka blast.

Can’t imagine what the Islamists would have against Russia, which is doing its damndest to make Iran a nuclear power, and is making Obama look like the fool he is.

That’s what I saw too!

I also find it amazing how we can share the Russian’s grief. Not that long ago it would have been “Good - less commies in the world.” Of course, the war was never with the ordinary folks on the subways anyway.

I never thought this would happen with all those new weapons systems the Russians have been bragging about.

There was a time when Drudge would have been all over this, complete with the siren.
His site doesn’t even mention these attacks yet.

Whoa. http://thedailydan.tumblr.com/post/481221064 Prayers sent.

Two female suicide bombers blew themselves up on Moscow’s subway system as it was jam-packed with rush-hour passengers Monday, killing at least 35 people and wounding more than 30, the city’s mayor and other officials said.

Emergency Ministry spokeswoman Svetlana Chumikova said 23 people were killed at the Lubyanka station in central Moscow. The station is underneath the building that houses the main offices of the Federal Security Service, or FSB, the KGB’s main successor agency.

A second explosion hit the Park Kultury station about 45 minutes later. Chumikova said at least 12 were dead there.

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov said both explosions were believed to have been set off by female suicide bombers as the trains entered the stations. In the first case, officials said the explosion was on the train; there was no immediate information on the location of the second blast.

Russia will do what she must to keep her people safe. Mr. Putin isn’t a forgiving person. He will take action and not be bound by this indecision like Obama. Those who did this despicable act will pay!
