Morgan Griffith, Rep. nom. candidate for Congress in VA09, puts up website
Griffith for Congress ^

Posted on 03/27/2010 9:52:22 AM PDT by Gopher Broke

Morgan Griffith has just posted his website in his run for the Republican nomination for Congress for the 9th District. His opponent, Rick Boucher, is a liberal democrat who has been in office too long.

Boucher district is coal country, yet Boucher voted YES for the Cap and Tax bill, to kill jobs in the coal industry and kill Norfolk Southern jobs locally.

I hope that Griffith wins this. Will Democrats make an issue of the fact that he lives slightly outside the district?

His back fence is in the 9th district....and Salem will likely be gobbled up by the 9th during redistricting...so I don’t think that is a hot issue.

Of course they will. If he sneezes and doesn’t cover his mouth fast enough they’ll run with a story saying he runs around trying to get people sick.

His opponent is not Rick Boucher. LOL. This is a primary.

Yup. Choosing Griffith in the primary is an automatic win for Boucher. Boucher will use his out-of-district against him and the voters are not going to trust Griffith’s “I used to be in your district” defense.

Once again the RNC establishment is screwing the 9th.

His opponent in Nov. will be Rick Boucher, once he gets the Republican nomination...

Majority Leader Morgan Griffith is the only candidate with any chance to beat Boucher.....it will be a tough race but Griffith can win and I believe will win at the May 22 Convention.

Boucher had handily defeated every candidate we have put up against him for many year....it is nice to FINALLY have a candidate with political experience and good connections.

The 'fight' needs to be more than going to cocktail parties and being photo-op Republicans. Most importantly, in order to turn this around, the people in the squishy center need to be shown that we are headed down the Road to Serfdom. It's going to take talkers, walkers, writers and donors who are not just preaching to the choir.

Business backgrounds are working for first-time GOP candidates (Washington Post, By Chris Cillizza, Washington Post Staff Writer, Monday, March 29, 2010)

Griffith’s problem is that he lives outside the 9th District and has NO connection to coal country, which will not fly in SWVA.

Here's a better GOP candidate for the 9th District, Adam Light, who has been traveling throughout SWVA over the past several weeks and doing very well at the grassroots level:

Mr. Griffith is not a sure thing by a long shot. Our district is speaking loudly that they want a grass roots Republican and they have found one with a depth of knowledge on the issues facing the 9th district and these United States. We are tired of career politicians. We are for term limits with good reason. Power and greed are strong motivators and are inherent risks when someone is allowed to serve indefinitely. Look at Pelosi and Rick Boucher and tell me I’m wrong. Our founding fathers understood this principle and so do we. Don’t just take my word for it. Take a look at this man
http://davidmoore4congress.com/
and listen to him speak if at all possible. Then maybe you’ll understand why he is gaining the support of Republican delegates and the people of the 9th district. All of the candidates will be speaking between 11am and 1pm in Bluefield Va.(most likely speaking time will be noon) during the tax day protests at Jack Asbury park. Take your lunch hour and make an effort to attend and decide for yourself who you want to represent you in Washington D.C. Dave will try and speak at all of the 9th district protests but will be in Bluefield for sure.

Looks like you are a candidate running against Griffith.

As one who has watched 100% Republican losses to Boucher since he took office...the candidates that ran were good people...they has one trait in common—no money.

Griffith is a good candidate (100% rated in last Family Foundation scorecard)...and he can raise money. We have a shot at Boucher’s seat if Griffith is his opponent. If another person runs against Boucher...no matter how much conservatism and good they have....they will lose. The past has proven this.

Griffith will have money, the others will not...case over.

The RPV and RNC have already said they are going to put full support (money) behind the Republican nominee period.

David has a better chance at receiving money and votes from Democrats, Independents and Republicans. If you know the 9th district then you know this is also a fact.

The problem with any of the grass roots Republicans is there are 5 of them and people want to wait until one gets the nomination before making large donations. Why? Because they see Griffith as the party insider and have lost faith in the party to listen to the people. The R party of the 9th district has seen one of the biggest surges in new members and new delegates in many years this year. If you don’t think those are mostly grass roots R’s you are mistaken. Dave has money behind him and it will come with the nomination and that is a significant difference in this race than in past races.
Mr. Griffith will have votes pulled from him by the Independent that Dave or another grass roots candidate wouldn’t and that is significant if this becomes a tight race.
I am not candidate Moore by the way. I am a volunteer for his campaign. If you’d like to contact him personally his website is http://davidmoore4congress.com/ .
He will be speaking at a tea party protest in Chilhowie tomorrow 4/17/10 as well at 11:30 at the park behind McDonalds. Once you listen to him speak maybe you’ll understand the excitement around him.

Sorry one more thing on your post you said he got a 100% rating on the Family Foundation scorecard. How can he get that when he is ok with first trimester abortion? http://www.votesmart.org/npat.php?can_id=5148#408 . If I found this so easy won’t the Family Foundation and Boucher supporters also find this info?

Governor McDonnell won every single county in the 9th District back in November.

This is extremely bad news. Party hack and professional politician Griffith lives outside the 9th District, has NO connection to coal country, mining families could care less about him, and Boucher will eat him alive.

The VA GOP is its own worst enemy, and needs to dump the good ol’ boy conventions in favor of direct closed primaries.

Bah!
