No dis-ingenuousness necessary.
What is being applauded is women who have killed babies and who now blame someone else (or circumstances for their actions. In so doing, they are disavowing responsibility for their own actions, and are thus unrepentant.
To applaud unrepentant baby killers is to, by extension, OK the action that they committed.
I’ll put forth a separate point:
for those who believe that these red-handed harlots are ‘repentant’, a distinct though related question remains:
why should they be put at podiums to speak, and applauded after, for even one minute that could go (including the applause) to speakers who didn’t abort in the first place and thus actually deserve the applause?
What putting those who have aborted at podiums at pro-life rallies says is that a woman can abort, then say a few words about it, and pro-lifers will applaud her.
That’s disgusting.
Who is applauding that?
Everyone who claps when one of them gets up on the stage at a pro-life rally.
"Them" meaning a woman who has ever had an abortion?
Are you declaring that you will not / cannot forgive a repentant sinner in this case?
You’ve had all afternoon. Did you get around to reading John 8 yet? Did you see the truth?
Yes that is the meaning of ‘them’.
And first, I don’t believe any claim of them being repentant.
Second, killers claimed to be repentant still don’t merit even a second of stage time that could go to those who never killed in the first place!
I don’t dedicate all afternoon to requests from Free Republic.
Regarding the chapter that you reference: I would never kill a baby, and am perfectly free to condemn all who do.
And so I always will.
If they’re not repentant, why do they say what they did was wrong, and why do they advise others not to do what they did?
Jesus didn’t call for all who had never committed the same sin to cast the first stone. And there’s more to that chapter. A lot more. Did you read the part about the sons of the father of lies not being able to hear God’s words? Read it carefully. Oh, never mind. You wouldn’t understand no matter how carefully you examine the words.
“Read it...no don’t read it”.
Yeah, that makes lots of sense.
Would you condemn anyone who stole your car?
Of course you would.
Really? Earlier you asked about Christians and their feelings toward those who have killed. Do YOU profess to be a Christian? If so, have you read the New Testament? I only ask because based on YOUR theory a huge portion of the New Testament doesn't "merit even a second of stage time."
I am sorry to say that I do not find Rich Knight’s arguments to be convincing.
Every woman I've heard give a testimony about dealing with abortion admits that it was her own decision.
I don't read that out of the pro-life movement.
Progress towards those laws is hobbled every time pro-lifers glorify women who have aborted.
I've never heard the pro-life movement glorify any woman who aborted. Where'd you get that as well?
What's your problem with the pro-life movement?
Oh, and BTW, welcome to FR.
What’s disgusting is your portrayal of the pro-life movement as an enabler for women who’ve had abortions and glorifying them for it.
If they repented of it, we CANNOT hold them in judgment. Forgiveness must be extended to them.
They must be allowed to tell their stories so that others can either avoid the same course of action, or they can finally deal with it themselves and gain the forgiveness that Jesus offers ALL who sin.
And so I always will.
You have free will and are free to exercise it in any way you choose, but I certainly would not want to stand before God in your shoes on Judgment Day with that kind of attitude.
************************************************************
Matthew 7: 1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
***********************************************************
Luke 6: 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
37"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." ************************************************************
For the record, I never wrote anything of the kind.
I wrote that women who have aborted don't deserve a second of stage time and am right about that.
You cannot replace the whole subject of what I wrote with something else and then still attribute it to me.
That is definitive misrepresentation.
I write 'fire is hot' and you write back, "oh, so you're saying that 'water is hot' huh?"
The substitutions that you make materially alter the nature of what is expressed, disingenuously so.
The point is to not be a hypocrite.
I would never kill a baby for any reason, thus there is no hypocrisy in impugning those who have.
That's heart-wrenchingly disgusting.
And prevalent.
And bad.
Meanwhile, I’m still right.
