During the ObamaCare summit three weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi declared that the bill would create four million jobs over the next ten years, with 400,000 new jobs created almost immediately. Pelosi relied on a study written by the left-wing advocacy group Center for American Progress for those figures, although the Bureau of Labor Statistics already predicts growth in the health-care industry of 3.2 million jobs without ObamaCare. Now, Americans for Tax Reform and the Beacon Hill Institute have conducted their own study using CAP’s methodology and determined that ObamaCare will destroy jobs, not create them. If this bill passes, it will become the golden age for seniors and a terrible age for parents with families at home or in college, and for new people in the job market.
My wife will be 70, and she works as an RN for a busy FP. She plans to work 3 days a week for him until one or both leave this orb. She averages 5-10 requests per week from people in health care wanting someone like her.
I’m 71 and since this health care possibility has heated up, I’m averaging about one unsolicited offer a week.
We went to a dinner party this past weekend and 60 year olds were on the young side. Basically every retired person at that party has or is receiving job offers on a regular basis. A retired carpenter was hired back 2-3 days a week by the same company he worked 35 years for. An asst. grocery store manager is now merchandising products in grocery stores in this area working for a friend. A retired principal/teacher could probably work everyday as a substitute principal in the district he retired from.
No body wants to hire a full time person and have to pay current benefits and the potentially crushing costs of 0b0z0 care.
Even one job lost is too much. Just got the unemployment figures for our county and surrounding counties. Stephens Co., 15.6%, Ferry Co.,17.5%, Pend Oreille Co., 16.2%. If this is allowed to pass, it would be madness. Plus, our idiots over in Olimpia want to raise taxes also. When do we have enough?
