Check out volume 3 of Hinds' Precedents of the House of Representatives of the United States, sections 2294 to 2318. It discusses the meaning of the Blount case. Under "Persons subject to impeachment," it explains how the Blount case--the end of it, not the beginning, which you discussed--stands for the proposition that members of Congress are NOT impeachable.
If that's not good enough for you, consider the fact that ever since then, Congress has used expulsion rather than impeachment for its own members.
