White House, Democrats close in on health bill (Abortion to be in the bill)
MSNBC ^ | 3/11/2010 | ap

House Democratic leaders abandoned a long struggle to appease the most ardent abortion opponents in their ranks, gambling Thursday that they can secure the support for President Barack Obama's sweeping health care legislation with showdown votes looming next week.

In doing so, they are all but counting out a small but potentially decisive group whose views on abortion coverage have become the principal hang-up for Democrats fighting to achieve the biggest change in American health care in generations. Congressional leaders are hoping they can find enough support from other wavering Democrats to pass legislation that only cleared the House by five votes in an earlier incarnation.

Democratic leaders are working to rally rank-and-file members around agreements on several complicated points, health insurance taxes and prescription drug coverage among them, and dozens of other sticky issues — all as Republicans stand ready to oppose the overhaul en masse.

Nancy doesn’t have the votes. Gave up on Stu-Pack. Hopes to flip enough with vote momentum.

Senate war looming over reconciliation. Violates rules, Harry says tough s&*t we’re doing it anyway.

Popcorn time, this is going to be wild.

So AP tells MSNBC...your it. Their turn to take the DNC talking points and pump up the volume on the propaganda.

They've known abortion couldn't be reconciled yet they continued to push the notion it could be. These so-called Blue-Dog Dems better figure out real quick that this bill is not the deficit saver as is being advertised.

She is going to get ruthless on them.

If she can't scare them into this, she will have lost a good deal of her caucus, and her days as Speaker may be numbered.

OH whatever. It’s dead.

I’m enjoying the death-writhing of the marxists who are still trying to keep it alive. Die slow - keep it alive until November he he he

This is her make-or-break moment. With 40 House seats - at least - projected to go GOP, who's going to cave to a likely lame duck Speaker ?

I’m not either - at least I’m not going to bet my life on it.

But it looks very grim for Nancy, very grim.

It's not dead by any means until it is officially dead.

Never underestimate their skulduggery to pass this. They have cornered themselves on healthcare, it's a mess that they have bungled horribly.

Beware the cornered rat.

If this crapola passes and of the 85% that have and like their insurance don't see a decrease in their premiums immediately then there will be more like a 80 seat swing.

According to Rep. Ryna, it looks like they're going to do some dirty work in the Budget Committee and pass a "shell bill" to make changes.

This thing is like a never-dying Monster which will resurrect no matter what.

Agreed. Millions of morons bought into that phony hope and change garbage. I tried to warn people that Obama was a fraud and they didn't listen.

I don't know about you guys, but I have no intention of meekly going along with this. I ain't signing up for no Obamacare, even if I'm bleeding to death.

Many of us gave a lot to charities over the years. These Democrats pass this bill, they can kiss many donations goodbye for charities. This is nothing but one big power grab. In the long run these Democrats are going to lose. It is happening on the local level too.
