Why Democrats Don’t Care about $9.7 Trillion in Debt
National Review ^ | Dennis Prager

Posted on 03/10/2010 4:41:02 AM PST by Bigg Red

Therefore, unprecedented and unsustainable debt that will negatively affect most Americans’ quality of life, render the dollar increasingly undesirable, and undermine America’s prestige and power in the world — these developments do not particularly disturb the Left. They may trouble the president, the Democratic party, and their allies on some political level, but that pales in comparison to the Left’s zeal for what it really wants: a huge government overseeing a giant welfare state and a country with far fewer rich Americans.

.

I used to believe that the Left and the Right had similar goals for America, that they just differed in the means they wanted to use to get there. I was mistaken. The Left has a very different vision of America than those who hold to America’s founding values, most especially individualism and small government. Their vision is one in which a once-in-a-lifetime chance to establish a giant welfare state dominated by the Left is worth any price — even America’s steep financial decline.

This is something that Beck has been hammering for quite a while now. And we all understand on an intellectual level just how much the left wants to destroy us, but I wonder if we have really come to terms with it on an emotional level.

I urge everyone to go to the link and read the whole piece. It is a quick read and done with the clarity typical of Prager. Also, his tale of the Moroccan cab driver is telling.

Ya know, I think Adolph Hitler had a better economy than the Bummer.

Jed Brandt (the bald communist) laid it out quite clearly.

They want to harm as many people as possible and destroy America so they can remake it into their marxist utopia.

Sorry, I messed up with my “snips” notations. These snippets are not at the beginning of the piece, and they are not contiguous.

The same reason Republicans don’t care enough about it: their special interests. ...mostly government income recipients, who have plenty of money for donations and time for politics.

'Why Democrats Don’t Care about $9.7 Trillion in Debt'

Uh .. off the top of my head I'd say because they can't count and have no idea of how many zeros are in a Trillion as their collective IQ is 2 points above 'Idiot'.

Or that that '1 trillion' is equal to the number of Stars in Five Milky Way Galaxies.(1) and that it's a really HUGH number. And in Dollars it means we're really, really, screwed. (I ain't to $#@&ing pleased that our 1 yo Grandson already 'owes' $300,000+ in order to pay off the US Debt!)

(1) 5 would be on the low side estimate of 200 Billion Stars in the Milky Way

Unfortunatley, I think a lot of people intuitively understand this. Yet, they still want their free stuff. At the end of the day, they will do whatever it takes to get the free stuff, even if it means flushing the America they grew up in down the toilet. Sad to say, this is especially true with seniors.

I don’t think Lenin cared much about the Russian Debt in 1917.

Oh Brother! And someone lets Mr Prager write for the National Review? I suppose he gets paid for it.

The Left is the Left is the Left.

The Conservative is one who believes in personal civic and moral responsibility, and the individual freedom it allows.

How obvious is it, National Review?

On the other hand if they keep warping the basic principles, it will, like Hollywood, keep the Media's stupid writers in business, at the cost of the rest. The Left perhaps?

The saddest part is that the usefull idiots are out protesting the evil big companies while the “intellectual” leftist elite are openly admitting to causing the pain.

40% of our wages are lost to taxes and government fees each year. That means we only get about half a pay check. People do work, but have a hard time after taxes, and they feel they need the financial help from the government just to get by.
If the government were to leave their wages alone, they wouldn't have to vote themselves some of their own money back. They'd have an entire pay check to live on.

(Then, half the population uses welfare as a life style choice. They're demanding the working class "share" their wages - just to make it "fair." These are the hungry parasites who do nothing but feed off the innocent.)

“I used to believe that the Left and the Right had similar goals for America, that they just differed in the means they wanted to use...”
Really? I’ve never believed the left wanted to do anything but screw us and screw up the country.
I disagree with Prager on another point. For many years liberal and leftist have been one and the same snake. They all need to be stomped.

You had me, then you lost me.

“...because the Democratic party and the president are economic illiterates or bad individuals, but because the Democratic party and the president are leftists...”

I don’t know why conservatives and their pundits can not bring themselves to acknowledge that the demonrats are pure evil. How is it possible to reconcile the above statement in light of what the Left is doing to our country? Friggin’ unbelievable.

I wish it was just democrats. Unfortunately if the pundits can’t admit to what democrats really are they will never point out problem republicans. (It was a republican who introduced the bill that forced the unionization of Michigan home care workers. 7 others voted for it in return for SEIU cash and support)

Bingo! Doesn't matter whether the boot is on the left foot or the right foot. We've been so totally sold out by a Republican party that, despite all the protest and admonishions to the contrary, continues to support Vichy Republican candidates. Dirty little monkey collectivists, all of them, and all of them deserve the end of a rope. Speed that Day.

From, about, 1932 til 1939 Hitler went on a massive public works program. Highways, public housing. He also built up the military massively with new weapons. And he handed out a lot of money to local politicians for states and towns, and ordered raised wages.

All on borrowed money. When he couldn’t meet the interest payments, let alone the principal on notes, he went to war, as the whole Nazi Ponzi scheme would politically collapse.

War was a attempt for debt/economic reset for the Nazi’s and Hitler.

I think we aren't paying nearly enough attention to what's going on in our statehouses. All the sound and fury is in Washington DC but the flood is quietly rising around our ankles.

GOP Senators, SEIU Taxpayer Giveaways, Campaign Cash and More, OH MY!

The problem is that these people can vote. Frankly, I think the founders had it right when only property owners could vote—in short, someone with a stake in the country who wasn’t a deadbeat. I’d be happy if it were taxpayers who earned the franchise. In some ways, Robert Heinlein (the SciFi writer) was a loon, but I also liked his idea that only veterans could vote. This “One Man, One Vote” idea may be the death of the Republic.
