Campaign for Dillard issues the following News Release:
(Chicago) State Senator Kirk Dillard today threw his support behind State Senator Bill Brady in the race for Governor, saying it was close, but that Brady had won the Illinois Republican Primary. I will help Senator Brady in any way I can to ensure the Republican Party wins back the Governors office in November, Dillard said.
Dillard had waited until the Illinois State Board of Elections had reported the final totals in the February 2 Primary election had been counted before conceding because of the narrow margin of Bradys lead. It was a hard-fought race, and it was close: less than .0002 of a percent, said Dillard. But it is now clear to me that my friend and colleague Bill Brady has won the Illinois Republican Primary for Governor.
Dillard went on to stress why he will aggressively campaign on Bradys behalf. As Ive said countless times during the campaign, Illinois is a state in crisis. Pat Quinn cannot lead, and shows no urgency in putting people back to work.

Dillard sounds like a more stand-up kind of guy than it had appeared. He can’t change the outcome, but he’s definitely not appearing petty.
Does the pub have any chance of winning in the general?
Yes, I believe he has a decent chance.
Despite having endorsed Obama, a move I’m sure Kirk Dillard has regretted frequently since, he does seem to be a good guy and I’m very proud of the way both he and Bill Brady have conducted themselves, and that he has chosen to concede rather than dragging this thing out for months. It’s an example of putting “State” before “Self”, that others would do well to emulate.
This is good news. Quinn is beatable but Brady will need to increase his name recognition. Brady needs to emulate the campaigns of McDonnell and Cristy. Lay out a plan that resonates against the out of touch Chicago machine.
I meant Christie.
