A group of 53 illegal immigrants was apprehended Wednesday morning just west of the San Pedro River, near the U.S.-Mexico border.
U.S. Border Patrol agents monitoring a video surveillance system in the area spotted the group just after midnight, said Colleen Agle, an agency spokeswoman.
Agents at the Naco station sent out the horse patrol, which was then assisted by an Office of Air and Marine helicopter, she said.
The 36 men, nine women, and eight children were not in distress when they were found, she said.
Border Ping
How many OTMS are we rounding up these days??
ping
53 Dem voters.
The agents will be detained (w/o pay) pending the results of an investigation of charges that they "profiled" the immigrants. "We cannot and will not tolerate this kind of behavior" stated an ICE official on grounds of anonimity.
Gee, how about reassigning the BORSTAR (Border Patrol Search and Rescue) to other duties, make it clear that agents couldn’t patrol more than five miles into the interior (except for roadblock checkpoints), remove the stationary rescue beacons and spread the word throughout the border country that they wouldn’t be allowed to respond to cellphone calls for help and that illegals in the desert would be on their own henceforward.
Oh, and not allow district schoolbuses to pick up kids at the border crossings and no more allowing Mexican ambulances through?
Think that might have a salutary effect?
All federal efforts are directed toward putting Sheriff Arpaio in prison for arresting illegal aliens.
I don’t think the feds are doing anything else but that.
Don’t suppose Obama’s brother was among them, looking for a better life.

Associated Press
2010-03-03
Mexico’s interior department says prosecutors have detained 10 Mexican immigration agents and three airline workers at Cancun’s international airport on suspicion of trafficking Chinese migrants.
The department says in a statement that the agents, along with the two Mexicana Airlines employees and a worker of Livingston Air, allegedly allowed Chinese citizens into the country with false passports.
A statement issued Tuesday by the department says the arrests are part of an investigation that resulted in the detention of 26 immigration agents at Cancun’s airport in January.
