House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday expressed confidence she will have enough votes to pass a health overhaul, but acknowledged it could come at a political cost to lawmakers who back the measure.
Monday kicks off a critical week for Democrats to push ahead with their overhaul. President Barack Obama is expected to announce his preferred way forward for the bill. The White House has already laid the groundwork for Congress to complete the legislation using a process known as budget reconciliation that requires a simple majority in the Senate.
Democrats seem poised to move forward without any support from Republicans, who say they see no way to work from the existing bill.

“If you use reconciliation on this health care bill, as we see today, what you’re going to have is a thumbing of the nose at the American people,” Sen. Kent Conrad, R-N.D., said on CBS.

DITTO. Now the GOP can use the same procedure to put thru their SCOTUS candidates, repeal Dem laws and regs.

Thumbing of the nose? More like hurling of ape feces. But Republican “amendibusters” should make the process a little more amusing. And if the Donks do get something passed by a miracle, it will be a runt law unable to actually do anything, kind of like a Toyota without gasoline, battery, or ignition key.
Our Washington dignitaries just don’t have any dignity left.
Pelosi has nothing remaining but her far left liberal credentials. That’s all she’s trying to save by making a statement like this. She’ll be a back-bencher for the rest of her life and she knows it, of course she’ll be the well-respected “conscience of the House” according to the media. Buh-bye San Fran Nan, enjoy the rest of your loser career.
And the remaining ‘Rats will be screaming bloody murder all the way as we dismantle their Communist Utopia and the MSM won’t report that they did what they’re doing right now when the GOP is back in charge.

If the Dems had the votes, as they claim, they would have already voted.
That and bravado. If she had the votes, she would have done it by now.
She is from the bluest strip of the voting map. Her voters aren’t going to get rid of her. So of course she’s talking tough.
If her numbers were close, you’d be seeing her say something different.
She will not lose in her re-election bid.
But...
If Dems lose their majority in the House, they will vote to remove her from their leadership and she will resign her seat.
Count on it.

American Citizens have expressed confidence for years that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is nutty as a pecan orchard.
Pelosi is a ghoulish twit. She should be no where near any group that is discussing such important topics that will affect our Nation. She should be nowhere near politics. I surely hope she does the right thing and resigns and then moves from CA.
