It seems Democrats were not born with this ‘gene of restraint’.

The only reason he won is the fear of ALGOR and Kerry.

“Former President George W. Bush turned to his faith amid the tough times during his eight years in office”

That is fine, but he let the left run roughshod over us, and nothing has changed for him in this regard. He is a major reason why we have a Godless dictator in the White House. McCain, you can take a bow too.

The former president could speak against policies without casting aspersions and calling manes like other former Democrat presidents have always done.

Some have gone so far as to wonder about their sanity, ala Jimah ‘Peanuts’ Carter.

If he is that way, his father is the same cause he is silent. As are other Republicans who have held office (the vast majority of them).

I too would like to see once a Republican former president lambaste a sitting Democrat ... but alas, I don’t think they have the stomach for it.

if he still believes in free markets and liberty, he needs to stand up and be counted.

I will not vote for another Bush.

I wonder where in Bush’s faith it says that he should put the interests of Mexico above those of the US.

No, unfortunately they aren't. W hated what Jimmah did to him and I think that is what "restrains" him here.

It's all good though. Dick Cheney is more effective anyhow.

I’ll never understand how a man who showed such strength and conviction when it came to standing up to Terrorists, was so spineless when it came to an all out assault by Democrat Socialists, not only on him, but the right over all.

His “turning the other cheek” and therefore allowing his enemies to crush it are the precise reason we HAVE Zerobama as president now. And at root, all the Bushes are exactly the same: they are Republicans, but none of them are Conservatives. They actually believe in government solutions. Bush Jr. & Rove decided from Day 1 of their terms the idea was to go to Washington and make deals with Democrats, as though all of them were “Good Ole Boys”. Rove is nothing but a Political Calculator; even a Political Hack. Rove and all the Bushes believe in Politics. And they do it because it’s a job which allows them to cash in on regularly. None of then believe in Citizen Legislators. They believe, in their blackest hearts, that government is essentially good. And they believe that because they are, or want to be, government.

If Stalin was in charge, would Bush be such a patrician?

The “gentleman’s club” mindset is strong with this one- stronger than speaking out against destruction of our most basic national values.

That is not a strength but a weakness.

Dear Bush 41 and 43, Breaking your swords into plowshares means you (and the rest of us) end up plowing the fields for the barbarians. Thanks a ton.

He did many good things

True and for that we thank him.

However, he NEVER stood up for himself or to the democrats.

He NEVER explained well to the American people WHY certain things needed to be done. He just assumed we all got it.

He NEVER saw a spending bill he didn't sign. Angering all conservatives and giving cover to the democrats today to jack up our debt level to record levels.

He SIGNED the McCain/Finegold bill that limited our free speech rights.

President Bush did do MANY good things but he also did many other things poorly and he is directly responsible for the pres__ent we have today.
