“A spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said Linder’s decision to retire is another blow to House Republicans’ aspirations in this midterm election year.”
LOL! I highly doubt it! But just keep whistlin’ past the GRAVEYARD, Dems! :)

Very safe R district. In fact, it’s the one that ousted Bob Barr from Congress because it put Linder and Barr in the same district.

Yep, this is SURE shaping up to be an awful year for republicans....Has the DCCC hired the former Iraqi Communication Minister as their new spokesman?

Our district has been solid R for years, but there are so many people moving in from liberal states, that I fear for not only our district but the entire state.
John Linder will be missed by many.

I was in John Linders district when he was first elected. I knew Ihad a great Congressman. I then moved and was in Davida Scott's, Hank Johnson and that awful bitch Cynthia McKinney. Now I moved back to his district knowing I have a good congressman and what happens? He retires!

“A spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said Linder’s decision to retire is another blow to House Republicans’ aspirations in this midterm election year.” That is laughable. This is an excellent year for Republicans to retire and get some fresh blood in Congress. The 2010 election cycle is generating a strong tail wind that will push many Republican congressional candidates over the top. By choosing to retire in a strong Republican year, Linder, who will have been in Congress 18 years, is giving the Republican candidate a better shot at retaining the open seat this November.

Has the DCCC hired the former Iraqi Communication Minister as their new spokesman? Not unless zero's press secretary has agreed to take on both jobs!

Did you hear they are talking about John Smoltz taking his place.
Also, John Linder said he wants to devote time on getting The Fair Tax passed.

Wow! There is an excellent conservative black republican state representative named Melvin Everson in that district. He would be a great candidate.

John Linder was a champion supporter of the Fair Tax.Linder said he wanted to spend more time at his sprawling family farm in Mississippi and work on advocating his idea for a "Fair Tax" system that would eliminate the IRS and the federal income tax code and replace it with a nationwide retail sales tax.
"It just struck me that this is the thing to do," Linder said on WSB. "You can't keep doing things forever -- and I never intended to stay as long as I did."

Smoltz certainly would be a good pitchman. ;O)
Linder spending more time on the Fair Tax doesn't surprise me.

Make sure your candidate will repeal any law or executive order or program that is bad for the country.
