Rep. Eric Cantor: White House Health Care Bill Is a 'Non-Starter'
ABC News ^ | Feb. 23, 2010 | HUMA KHAN

Posted on 02/23/2010 1:50:41 PM PST by Baladas

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor today expressed little hope for bipartisan agreement on a health care bill when Republicans and Democrats meet Thursday in a joint summit called by President Obama.

The Republican representative from Virginia rejected the bill released by the White House Monday, which proposed fixes to the Senate health care bill passed Christmas Eve and retained many of the same measures.

"This bill is a non-starter," Cantor said on "Good Morning America" today. "The American people right now are the losers in all of this because the signals coming out of the White House don't bode well for positive health care reform.

"The president insists on bringing back a bill that the American people have resoundingly rejected," he said. The White House challenged the GOP this morning to offer a single health care proposal and post its legislation.

"What you can't do just yet is read about the Republicans' consensus plan, because so far they haven't announced what proposal they'll be bringing to the table," White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer said in a blog posted at 5 a.m. on the White House Web site.

"After a year of historic national dialogue about reform, it's time for both sides to be clear about what their plan is to lower costs, hold insurance companies accountable, make health insurance affordable for those without it and reduce the deficit."

Cantor said the idea that Republicans haven't put forth a plan, or are offering only piecemeal solutions, is simply untrue

I see Gibbs and the rest are still lying that the GOP has no plans or ideas. Cantor's right, a bipartisan summit this is not - it's a meeting for Obama to dictate the bill to Congress.

Just because the GOP can't come up with a Bill doesn't mean the Democrat Bill should pass.

Have the GOP posted any of their plans? Just wondering, might be a good idea at this point.

If it’s a non starter why are you attending the sham meeting? Screw Cantor and the leadership save Pence.

I see that Mr. Cantor has not explained why he didn’t see this coming and why he chose to attend the “summit” anyway. You gotta wonder about this guy’s political acumen.

We have Tenncare a form of Romney care and obamadeathcare.

Do some reading, these are articles since Jan of 2010, older articles tell of waste, fraud, illegals, and earlier cuts.

Call it coincidence or bad timing, but many physicians in Tennessee began taking a 14 percent cut for seeing TennCare patients on the same day Gov. Phil Bredesen announced deep cuts in health care spending.

Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

Snip

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Snip

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.

Virginia is giving us some good leaders, just as in the original American Revolution. Just say NO to the “healthcare summit.” Free Americans do not want or need government intervention in healthcare.

And to those FReepers who have been dumping on the GOP, I say the Republicans are all we have at this crucial moment when the enemy devises to force socialized medicine and nationalized everything, absconding with our precious LIBERTY.

Stop shooting at our side, our only hope. The Republicans are fighting for us. Encourage and support them. They are all we have to fight for us, until you PURISTS come up with something or someone better. Which side are you on?

Didn't I hear on the radio today that the Prime Minister of Canada just had a heart valve SURGERY performed in Miami, Florida?

And didn't I hear that he flew to America for the procedure because he believes he DESERVES the best medicine possible?

And didn't the Prime Minister of this Canadian nation that has UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE proclaim that 'just because he is a politician does NOT MEAN that he signed on for less than the best of health care?' as well as ' I do not have the time to WAIT IN LINE for this procedure, it became critical to get it done and the best is done is America where bones do not have to be broken?'

WHAT MORE DO AMERICANS NEED TO KNOW?

The Prime Minister of Canada flew to AMERICA to get heart surgery performed because it is done better here. Period. With no waiting lines ( he said people would complain in Canada if he jumped the line ) and with a reduced healing time.
