Sarah takes on Big Oil: The compelling story of Governor Sarah Palin’s battle with Alaska’s ‘Big 3’ oil companies,
as told by the state’s top oil and gas editors, Kay Cashman and Kristen Nelson
Sarah takes on Big Oil illuminates Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s rise to power, along with her successes and failures in dealing with the industry that is the lifeblood of the state’s economy.
This book is a must read for those seeking to understand Palin’s qualifications for national leadership.
Excerpt from book
Dan Seamount, one of two commissioners who served with Sarah Palin in 2003 and early 2004 on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, had the following to say about Palin.
‘She’s pro-development, not pro industry. She’ll tell you, ‘My boss is the people of Alaska.’
‘She s smart, a quick study. Her adversaries biggest mistake is underestimating her intelligence, her understanding of issues. And she uses their arrogance against them.’
About the Author
Authors Kay Cashman and Kristen Nelson are uniquely qualified to tell the story of Sarah Palin’s dealings with Alaska’s ‘Big 3’ oil companies because of their years of independent reporting on the state’s oil and gas industry, and their rare grasp of the nuances involved in Palin’s relationship with the Alaska’s three largest oil producers BP, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil.
Cashman is the publisher and executive editor of Petroleum News an independent news-driven weekly. Cashman is also a novelist and a people person. She knows the people in Palin’s story, and people know Cashman as a journalist who can be trusted with sensitive information, on and off the record.
Nelson, editor-in-chief of Petroleum News, has maintained a long-time eye on Alaska government and its interactions with the state’s most lucrative industry.
Cashman and Nelson are the ideal team to deliver a three-dimensional portrait of Palin, the people around her, and the unusual circumstances that have bracketed Palin’s leadership. The authors bring a perspective rarely available to general news reporters.
As a result, Sarah takes on Big Oil is a good read, full of lively personalities and verifiable facts facts which back up the compelling story of Alaska’s first female governor.
That prison thing seems to be your meaningless, catch all come back, that is why I posted what I posted to you in the first place.
Just go back to the status quo, before the liberal/libertarian gains of the late 60s and after, in regards to “gay power”.
If conservatives ever regain control of our nation then a lot of your 1960s gains will be rolled back.
Your response that we 'should treat them like we did before the 1970s' is meaningless.
I'm sure you thought that where you were in 1968 was the center of the universe, but the 'status quo' would have been quite different all over the country.
What is gibberish about supporting the status quo of our dealings with homosexuals before the leftists and libertarians got their “gay power” movement going and turned them into a legislative juggernaut of a protected group.
Were you so troubled by the homosexual situation in your community, or as you traveled the nation, or turned on a TV in, 1965?
-- Palin's 1st budget was $1.2 billion less that Murkowski's last budget in REAL dollars.
-- Palin's last budget was $1 billion less than Murkowski's last budget.
-- Earmark spending requests from the Governor's office were slashed more than 80% during her tenure.
-- Excess revenues due to higher oil prices during her tenure were used to dramatically increase the "rainy day" fund, the value of which is now $10 billion, equal to the Texas rainy day fund that Rick Perry is bragging about.
These people sliming Palin lie for fun.
A very good point.
It seems the Rubber Room Crowd get a new member every day.
Good work Al B.
Jack Black,
Please see post #86.
Seems your numbers and the conclusion your author came to might just need to be revisited by you.
I dream of someone like this getting hold of the federal budget. One thing I'll know with absolute certainty if it's Sarah Palin...she'll actually read it and know what's in it.
I guess no one talked about the glory of releasing rapists and murderers to victimize more innocent people in the name of mercy and forgiveness. Not GOP enough for dum-dum.
Thanks Al B. for providing the information I could not.
The one thing we have are the FACTS and they don’t lie. The RRC will never learn the facts speak for themselves.
Great. Got a link for the numbers. I’d like to take a look at them for myself, seeing as they are in dispute.
He never replied, so I assumed he didn't want to delve into factual information. He just wanted to perpetrate smears.
I didn’t miss seeing Huck either.
I was THRILLED to see nutmeg though!
And we were THRILLED to meet you and your husband! How cool we ended up at the same table last Thursday. :o)
What a great conference, huh? Hubby (FReeper "zelig" who never posts) and our friends thought it was probably the best CPAC yet. CPAC 2010 was our 8th one, our friends' 7th one.
10,000 attendees and there was so much going on at once! Overwhelming at times, but overall fantastic, IMO.
