Huckabee slams CPAC: It was too libertarian for me this year
Hot Air ^ | February 22, 2010 | Allahpundit

I’m resisting the idea that he said this purely out of personal pique but I can’t come up with a good alternative strategic explanation. What political benefit is there, in this year of all years, to knock CPAC for being “more libertarian” and “less Republican”? Libertarianism has never had more cachet within the GOP than it has right now; it’s not perfectly synonymous with the tea-party movement (of which Huckabee is predictably complimentary) but it’s close enough, especially with Beck in the role of TPers’ patron saint. Maybe Huck thinks finding any reason to knock an “establishment” event like CPAC will burnish his brand as an outsider? That’d be a goofy read on a conference whose straw poll was won by Ron Paul. Or maybe he thinks there’ll be such a scrum for the libertarian vote among the GOP field in 2012 that he’s better off staking out a position slightly to the left and letting Palin, Paul, etc fight it out for the small-government right. (America’s Greatest Patriot is reportedly undecided on a bid.)

.....................................................

Call it triangulation: Palin takes the small-government grassroots, Romney takes the centrists, and Huck takes the Christian conservatives, banking on the fact that his niche in a three-way race is slightly bigger than the other two.

Huckabee is as much a nanny stater as the Democrats. In terms of 2012 I say of the three "major" candidates I vote None of the Above.

After seeing his love-fest with Michelle Obama last weekend, I have almost no respect for this f@+ @$$ whatsoever. Huck is a RINO who is in favor of big, big government.

Actually, Palin takes both the small-government grassroots and the Christian Conservatives while Romney takes RINOs and Mormons, and the Huckster takes those Christians who really, really like the Big-Top, Big-TV Christian Evangelists who prey on the gullible.

Maybe if they pardoned a few thousand violent criminals and they went on a murder spree he would like it. Huckabee is a phony and I wish he would just shut up and go away.

Too libertarian? With Flip Romney and Pawlenty there, you had plenty of Nanny State comrades, Huck.

If you send money to Benny Hinn, you'll likely back the Huckster.

Sadly, this is too true.

Benny Hinn is in the same camp as the Huckster.

Huckster is all about the burgeoning ship of state. He just wants to change the logos.

Why won’t this rino say this stuff to everyones face on Fox News? He slammed Sarah Palin last year and she is on the same network. He has some character talking behind people’s back.

Yes we know the CPAC went Queer. But Huckabee is not worth an ounce in gold. If I were Fox News I would let him go. He is too Rino for me. The same with Mitt Romney.

Huck and McCain make a cute couple: tell the taxpayer one thing, then go legislate something else.

On Second thought if he leaves Fox News then he will be itchy to run for President. Maybe the should stay just so he can say he is enjoy his show so he won’t run.
