Today, in 2009, CNBC commentator Rick Santelli gave voice to the frustrations and anger of millions of Americans. Movements need countless variables. But, most importantly, they need a spark.
To Mr. Santelli we say, Happy Anniversary!

If anyone should be called the "leader" of the Tea Parties it would be Santelli.
Of course, no one has heard from him since (at least not around here).
great post!!
Thanks for posting that.
Years from now, historians will note that was the moment Americans PUSHED BACK.
:)
I agree. He gets the credit.
Thank you, Mr. Santelli. The fuel was there, but he was the spark.
Thanks for the reminder. My very next task today is to mark my computer's calendar “Santelli/Tea Party Day” for the next fifty February 20ths.
It seemed to me that they were really nervous about where Rick was going and made some lame attempts to shut him up.
Oooops! Was Feb 19th or Feb 20th the day the Tea Party movement began?
Thanks for that link - and here is one for you and for everyone - slightly different topic...but related.

Sermon from last Sunday at my church - “The Future in Review”
Worth listening to every word of it....
Prescient is right! Those mortgages that were re-written are already going into foreclosure in droves.
I remember that day. Thanks for the post. I’m gonna re-watch it now.

So true, but Rick was right on it.
"Oh, boy, they're like putty in your hands. Did you hear--"
"No they're NOT putty in my hands, Joe! This is America!"
Then later the guy says it's like "mob rule." Baloney. Mob rule (as in organized crime) is the alliance of the fedgov and the big banks. The game is rigged.
That was when the Tea Party movement began!
The 1st Tea Party Rally I went to:
Friday February 27th 2009 - High Noon in Hartford CT

Great to hear that again. Thank you for posting it.
He’s been muzzled. What he should do is quit his job so he can speak the truth. Great rant! Prescient thoughts.
I recently watched this again too. What a watershed moment. No one realized its implications then. What cracks me up is that he’s on a trading floor when he does it. And they say Wall Street is evil. Most there agreed with him.
