British threat to Israel over Dubai Hamas assassination
Telegraph ^ | 2/18/10 | Gordon Rayner, Con Coughlin and Duncan Gardham

Britain will consider severing its intelligence-sharing agreement with Israel if Mossad agents are proved to have stolen the identities of British passport holders, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.

Ministers are understood to be furious that an alleged hit squad which murdered a Hamas leader in Dubai last month cloned the passports of six unsuspecting Britons, who are now living in fear of reprisals.

Israel, which has not denied involvement in the murder, had previously promised that Mossad, its secret intelligence service, would never use British passports to help its agents carry out covert operations.

I’ve been reading up and I’m starting to wonder about the Mossad connection. It really doesn’t look like their work.

Too many people, too elaborate and they went to ridiculous lengths to try to make it seem like natural causes. They went to enormous lengths to have four guys slip into his hotel room to smother him without leaving a mark when he could just as easily been gunned down in the street or blown up in his car.

But then again, who else could it have been?

I’m confused. Are they just protesting for form’s sake? Is anyone really sad that this guy is gone?

Talk about shortsighted! I had not known about previous fallouts over stolen passports. The anti-semitic Brit establishment is just spoiling for an excuse to stick it to Israel. They may end up paying in much too heavy political coin in order to snuff one Hamas gun-runner.

Now that you mention it, that kind of does make sense. It seems to be Mossad's MO to make a big scene out of their assassinations. Almost like they're countering what the terrorists do by making the terrorists afraid to travel or even go outside.

Is it just me, or does this whole situation remind you of the movie Munich? If Israel and Mossad are really behind this, then I’m pumped for them. They take care of business like no other.

If it even was Israel. Mossad said it wouldn’t. It never said it wouldn’t egg somebody else on to.

If the hit team used the identities of Brits, and thereby put them at risk of reprisal, I can totally understand a certain level of passed-off-edness on the part of the Brits.

I heard that the door was locked from inside the room where he died. I’m thinking it must have been bolted from the inside. How do they know it’s the people I’ve seen pictured that are assassins? Are they on some kind of assassins list??

“Britain will consider severing its intelligence-sharing agreement with Israel if Mossad agents are proved to have stolen the identities of British passport holders, The Daily Telegraph has learnt.”

Fine, then the UK can kiss off getting Israeli intel on the THOUSANDS OF BRITISH jihadis planning to blow up London.

Hey UK, HOWS THAT SHARIA THING GOING FOR YOU?

British Intelligence heads: “when I play the camel for you achmed, do you want me facing you or away?”

Care to clarify? Are you criticizing the hit on the Hama*shole, or the “outrage” from the Brit whores sucking on the Arab teat?

PS - Thanks for your work in Iraq - (You’re welcome for America’s part in the destruction of East Germany).

From my readings, the Mossad did not usually go in for being elaborate. For the real-life “Munich” saga, they relied on close-range pistol work. The last one in ‘78, Ali Hassan Salameh, was blown up with a car bomb in Beirut. They did get a little more elaborate in that they set up a female agent in a nearby apartment, posing as a crazy cat-lady british widower to observe the comings and goings of the careful Salameh.

The eighties hits on Saddam’s nuclear networkers were also pretty straightforward.

The story in The Telegraph was that there were no security cams in the hotel corridor and the team members were able to use sophisticated methods to silently get the card-key lock opened while another member kept watch at the elevators. It was the next day when they found the body and even longer before they decided that, considering who he was, it might not have been natural causes. He was grabbed and smothered by four assassins so there wasn’t a mark on him.

Digital cameras everywhere nowadays. Most of the footage had not yet been automatically erased. It’s a lot harder than it used to be.

In regards to your question, other than Israel who else could it have been?

Could be this bad guy got offed because he was cheating his fellow bad guys, and the bad guys set it up to kill him and make it look like the Mossad. And flagrantly used British passports to also bring a little further grief to Israel. Everyone seems to think it’s all too sloppy to be Mossad, so the next guess is some “dirty tricks” operation.

I tend to agree. One of the women (British papers claim 2 women involved) openly smiles into a CCTV camera, that's either total sloppiness or ballsy bravado and doesn't sound much like Mossad. And to have a team of 11+ involved and majority captured on CCTV doesn't seem to covert. Someone is laying false blame on Mossad.

Great post, and agreed! American volunteers for security should step up in each, their own areas, to be screened for some time (those who've already been trained in personal security--not only for buildings, and don't feel dejected if rejected...the thought that counts). Hamas is a designated terrorist organization: the enemy.

Are you familiar with the expression moral equivalence? If not, my comment may not make sense to you. Wikipedia explains it well enough.

Also, we may have a misunderstanding because I believe people can be perfectly logical and highly immoral. Logic and ethics are not the same. A false premise, such as that all violence is the same, can lead to immoral conclusions, right?

Finally, I had little to do with what happened in East Germany, unless you mean my service during the Cold War. I always think the Fuhrer deserves the blame for the destruction of East Germany and West, but to each his own.

They should be. They're obviously guilty. Interpol should round them up and send them to Dubai for trial. ;') Thanks Nachum.

Wut? Anyway, I don't care what Israel does to Hamas asshats, as long as they don't attack British interests or endanger British lives by using forged British passports. Its not too much to ask, and it deserves an appropriate diplomatic consequence if they insist on doing it...
