The fight took place Tuesday afternoon on the San Francisco-bound NL line in downtown Oakland, near the corner of Harrison and Webster streets. Alameda County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene and took both men to the hospital, said AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson. The younger man was treated for cuts and bruises received during the fight, and the older man was under observation for mental instability.

Johnson expressed surprise that the fight became such a media hit. "It was just a fight. On a bus," he said Wednesday. "Of course you would look at it if it were happening in front of you. And I'm not trying to minimize it. But that's all it was."

From the article. The old guy was observed for mental instability ? ??? He clearly tried to defuse the situation, the younger guy followed him and attacked him. That's mentally unstable ? But verbally abusing a perfect stranger, following him throughout the bus and attacking him is perfect mental health, apparently.

And the Transit Authority guy: "It's just a fight ?"

Seems in some transit systems the black women try to bully the Asian ones and the Asians are fighting back
