Washington (CNN) -- The fight over health care reform burst back into public view Tuesday as four Democratic senators asked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to hold a vote on a government-run public insurance option.
Most observers have considered the public option -- an idea long favored by liberal Democrats -- to be a non-starter since it was dropped from a Senate reform bill passed in December. But Sens. Michael Bennet of Colorado, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, and Sherrod Brown of Ohio signed a letter urging Reid, D-Nevada, to hold a vote on the proposal under a rule known as a reconciliation, which would allow the measure to pass with only 51 votes -- a simple majority.
The letter was co-signed by 119 Democrats in the House of Representatives.
Liberal groups MoveOn.org, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Democracy for America, and Credo Action are pushing other Democratic senators to sign the letter as well.

First God sent big heap snow to put a monkey-wrench in their plans...what’s next?
This health care takeover has nothing to do with the budget resolution rules, and they know it.
"There are four fundamental reasons why we support this approach -- its potential for billions of dollars in cost savings;
Under this thin argument, they are trying to say that Obamacare is the "budget." Senate rules do NOT permit any legislation be voted on with a simple majority, EXCEPT the Federal Budget.
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Montana, told CNN in January that he thinks reconciliation will ultimately be necessary to pass a health care bill in the chamber.
Was he sober this time?
Go for it commies! Pull the trigger!
They are so evil. Thank God they are also fairly stupid.
This crap just will not die. The Dems will not rest until we’re fully and irretrievably bankrupt.
We should thank our lucky stars for such tone-deaf idiots on the left. These people even make the Republican party of Michael Steele look good by comparison.
“KEEP YOUR LAWS OFF MY BODY!”
This is rear guard action. They are defending the rout and protecting those running away.
The battle has been conceded and the retreat is fully underway
Is there a fundamental distinction between ideologically-driven suicide bombers ... and ideologically driven suicide legislators?

Somewhat off the subject, but the socialized healthcare kooks will continue to throw Medicare out as though it is a success, claiming the 1 percent growth rate, or whatever. Considering that many Medicare recipients are refused treatment, without explanation, and that hospitals and doctors are constantly short changed by Medicare, after spending a fortune on billing, it is hardly an example of what works or what we all want to work towards. Fact is, the failure of Medicare to pay doctors and hospitals is a big reason for the rising cost of heath insurance that makes up the difference. Smug liberals were throwing out the Medicare success story like they had irrefutable brownie points. They are full of it.
Rand off.
I sure hope so. When I read this, I wondered if it was "red meat" for the Communists in the party.
If they "go nuclear" and try and get this criminal bill passed with a simple majority, the only hope for the GOP is to shut down the Senate with every fiber of their spineless beings. They could take it to court, but I NEVER trust the courts to do the right thing, and frankly, I am totally surprised when they do act correctly.
Notice they are throwing sacrificial lambs in the path while the leadership retreats.
Bennett and Gillibran most likely will be toast come November regardless of their vote on healthcare.
LOL
CPUSA (Communist Party-USA) and/or DSA (Democrat Socialists of America).
Sherrod Brown is the biggest Socialist in Ohio, next to Dennis the Menace Kookcinich.
Yes.
These are Democrats.
By comparison, this a very rationale human being.
I’m thinking locusts, or rain of frogs.
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)
New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.
TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.
Locusts?
