Two U.S. rockets slammed into a home Sunday outside the southern Taliban stronghold of Marjah, killing 12 civilians after Afghanistan's president appealed to NATO to take care in its campaign to seize the town.
Inside Marjah, Marines encountered "death at every corner" in their second day of a massive offensive to capture this bleak mud-brick city filled with booby traps, hardcore Taliban fighters and civilians unsure where to cast their loyalty.

U.S. soldiers operating near Marjah said the Taliban can fire on them, then set aside their weapon and walk freely out of a compound, possibly toward a weapons cache in another location.
A few crafty, determined insurgents can keep a larger force engaged for hours with some degree of impunity.
"The inability to stop people who don't have weapons is the main hindrance right now," said 1st Lt. Gavin McMahon of Brooklyn, N.Y. McMahon. "They know how to use our ROE against us," referring to the Rules of Engagement.
Insanity. Can you imagine these ROE’s at Normandy or Iwo Jima!!

The ROE situation is likely much worse than what we hear about.
Any word from the left yet about Obama being a ruthless murderer and war criminal?
Lancey, as well as other vets, predicted that precisely this was what would happen.
We can’t fire on anyone NOT HOLDING a weapon, even though you might have seen them with it 5 minutes before.
They put it down after they’ve done their damage, and then go to another weapon hidden for them around the block.
The ROE’s are criminal negligence perpetrated against our Marines.
Makes me wanna puke.......ROE.....fire comes from building, kill building, boom.... next.......

I was hoping those RoE’s would not be in use during this particular operation.
Your heart can't help but go out to that Lieutenant and all of our guys fighting with both hands tied behind their backs.
When something is outrageous it must be protested.
The Lieutenant let us know. We're wrong if we don't take up his cause.
The entire world should thank God every single day, that the country we have now wasn't during WWII. It truly is a scary thought...

I’m sure the Hollywood anti-war crowd will be seen marching with banners and big puppets tomorrow. Sarandon, Penn, Sheen, Lange, Clooney, Baldwin etc etc.

obama is an a**. The ROE he has imposed in Afghanistan is directly responsible for many needless injuries and deaths. That is American deaths. I’m sure obama feels he is saving lives, unfortunately, they are enemy lives.
Another thing is that the Taliban have to shoot first before the Marines can shoot back...
It’s really time to start the impeachment process and get this pathetic traitor out of office. I just can’t imagine taking orders from a CIC like Zero.
As long as those are the ROE’s we are using in Normandy and Iwo Jima right now there probably isn’t too big of a problem with them in those locations. And I’m not trying to be funny, x. Cause as far as Afghanistan or any other craphole where we are engaged with these “civilians”, my policy is to KILL THEM ALL, KILL THEM NOW.
Those are not the ROE’s we used in Normandy & Iwo Jima.
