Congressman: Obama’s NASA Shakeup Breaks The Law

WASHINGTON -- One Central Florida congressman has accused President Barack Obama of breaking the law for trying to cancel contract bids for the next generation of spaceflight.

According to published reports, the administration notified contractors Friday it is cancelling contracts for the Constellation and Ares programs, because the president’s latest budget cuts funding for those programs.

But U.S. Rep. Bill Posey said the administration can’t do that.

Posey, whose district includes parts of Brevard, Osceola, Polk and Indian River counties, said cancelling contract bids is in violation of a provision Congress put in the Appropriations Bill last year.

According to Posey, only Congress can shut down those programs, and he accused the administration of breaking the law.

There was no immediate comment from NASA.

Is "breaking the law" an impeachable offense? Just wondering.

Its only the little people who go to jail for breaking the law. Politicians get a do-over.

Obama just destroyed tens of thousands of jobs.

And he did it because he needs the money to fund ACORN.

Posey was also asking about that pesky BC. Maybe the soon-to-be fired NASA workers who will be harmed by the Kenyan may want to file a quo warranto against the islamo-marxist.

I wonder why the state senator Bill Nelson isn’t stepping up to the plate against Obama on this huge cut/shelved program of the NASA? You would think that Nelson would be coming out to his state’s defense on this issue!

___________

That’s a very good question. I would think that they would have standing as their employment and personal lives have been directly damaged by Obama’s actions.

"And he did it because he needs the money to fund ACORN."

EXACTLY! The j0ker is sending $4B to the Nut Jobs (ACORN), and additionally "doesn't have the money" to maintain the International Space Station.

We are being and will be SOOOOooooo played by the Russians for access, while China & India move ahead w/their space programs.

j0ker is a commie saboteur attempting to destroy America.

Even if he did have a line-item veto he didn’t uses it before signing the bill into law, its too late now to veto anything in congresses already signed bills.

on top of that his veto power does not allow him to reallocate such funds to his own “global warming research.” So even before he signed the bill into law(NOT VETOED IT) he still couldn’t divert the money. Only congress can do that.

“Obama just destroyed tens of thousands of jobs.”

Taxpayer funded jobs? Jobs with gold-plated retirement and health care benefits paid for by people who are struggling to pay their exorbitant taxes and put food on the table?

I’ve always liked the space program and we need a presence in space but the price tag for this bloated bureaucracy is just to much.

Hopefully the NASA employees will also drag in that idiot Sen. Bill Nelson cause he deserves to be sued too.

At minimum - they should make getting rid of (voting out) that idiot Nelson their “mission” in life.

I don't know - I think exploration is a legitimate expense, unlike PBS and funding toilet art.

The solution to this problem in our Federal Constitutional republic is simply NOT to allow him to exceed his powers. don’t enforce his unconstitutional edicts, and arrest anyone who does. (This one of the places we can and should uses our States and their general police powers.)

In this case of enforcing Congresses spending law, it is simply a matter of the NASA employees suing the Obama administration for not giving them the money congressional law allocated to them for theses programs.

While we(our States) arrest the people who take the money instead as well as illegally transfer it in violation of congresses law, as well as common law thief.

You seem to have the same problem Obama does. Do you seriously imagine that the spacecrafts and the rockets are built by bureaucrats in Washington? These are aerospace jobs, in aerospace companies. There's no gold-plated retirement and no gold-plated health care plan. Their sin in Obama's eyes is that the engineers haven't joined a union.

When I lived in Brevard county, I certainly voted against him everytime.

In many ways though it was a losing battle as so many of my co-workers just adored him.

Agreed. Bring in some German like Von Braun to run NASA without ACORN and post office hires and I might care again. Some of those NASA workers must of voted for pro-space herky jerky, happy slappy, hay seed gomer pyle, doofus a*s, hillbilly, yokel Bill Nelson.

Nelson was dressed like Goober Pyle at the Michael Moore global warming film. Nelson will not stand up to Obama. He will back filling NASA up with ACORN types who will go back to the inner cities with CO2 “test kits.”

By defunding NASA, Obama lost FL in the general election.

If the republicans in FL are smart(!), they will hammer, hammer, hammer. I don’t know how the regular citizen outside FL feels about funding the space program, but I can tell you how Floridians feel.

I knew someone who worked for a large defense company that made helicopters. The line workers were all union and all democrats. They went out of their way to find out of the new guy or girl was one of them. If they had the slightest thought that they were repub - they showed them nothing and offered no help. The new hire never made it through probation. Let em eat cake if they are union scum.
