Barack Obama Breaks Poor Paul Krugman’s Heart
David Horowitz's NewsRealblog ^

Posted on 02/11/2010 1:35:01 PM PST by Michael van der Galien

Here's my latest for NRB. Hope you'll enjoy it:

Although he was one of Barack Obama’s most fervent supporters two years ago, New York Times columnist and blogger Paul Krugman seems to have lost his faith in the president’s ability to “radically transform” America. Put differently, the Nobel Prize winning economist’s heart is broken:

"I’m with Simon Johnson here: how is it possible, at this late date, for Obama to be this clueless?

"The lead story on Bloomberg right now contains excerpts from an interview with Business Week which tells us:

"President Barack Obama said he doesn’t “begrudge” the $17 million bonus awarded to JPMorgan Chase & Co. Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon or the $9 million issued to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. CEO Lloyd Blankfein, noting that some athletes take home more pay…

"Oh. My. God."

He then continues to repeat the same leftist talking points we’ve heard ever since the economy first collapsed: evil bankers are to blame for the economic crisis, the crisis has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that capitalism doesn’t work, and so on. You know the drill.

“No... the real question is how could YOU be so clueless, Krugman!!! “

Doesn’t it take one to know one? Krugman has devoted YEARS to writing clueless columns, so it seems a bit hypocritical to be pointing the figure at Obama. That said, when a Nobel Prize winner with years of his own personal experience in cluelessness dubs Obama clueless, it is hard to argue with his conclusion. I don’t know about others, but to my recollection, this is the first time ever I am 100% in agreement with Dr. Krugman!

how is it possible, at this late date, for Obama to be this clueless?

Because he's been coddled his entire life by sycophants in the media and academia who tell him that everything he does is wonderful and that anyone who doesn't like him is racist?

If only Obama were ‘clueless in Washington’. What you perceive as a kind of mindlessness; is actually an agenda. Now, ‘power’ is another matter. . .someone does hold Obama’s chain. . .

If I’m not mistaken, when all that legislation was written by Congress, bailing out the banks and financial institutions, it was expressly written that the bonuses WOULD be given. For any Democrat Congressman or Senator, or even Obama, to decry them now, is hypocrisy, or prevarication, or both. But that wouldn’t be surprising, with that bunch.

Krugman later notes: The point is that these bank executives are not free agents who are earning big bucks in fair competition; they run companies that are essentially wards of the state. There’s good reason to feel outraged at the growing appearance that we’re running a system of lemon socialism, in which losses are public but gains are private. And at the very least, you would think that Obama would understand the importance of acknowledging public anger over what’s happening. [emphasis mine]

Krugman is actually right on this.

You should read this particular column, rather than the summary of it. Krugman isn't all that far from being correct for once.
