I asked Palin spokesperson Meghan Stapleton for comment on Rush’s rant, and she emailed me this:
“Governor Palin believes crude and demeaning name calling at the expense of others is disrespectful.”
It hardly has the passion of her response to Rahm, and there’s no call for him to step down. But given Rush’s stature among conservatives, it’s pretty interesting that she went this far, denouncing his on-air rant as “crude and demeaning name-calling.”
His “on-air rant” was just an extended goof at Emanuel’s expense for describing lefty activists as “retarded,” but having chosen to pick this fight, I guess Sarahcuda can’t make exceptions for humor. This is the second prominent conservative her team has had to chastise in two days: An advisor to Rick Perry, whom she’s supporting, was upbraided in similar terms yesterday for using the word “retarded” on a conference call (it’s now become a minor issue in the Texas Republican primary).

Yeah this wasn’t aimed at Rush at all, it was aimed at one of Perry’s people

Sarah was talking about Rush being mean to the Ballet Dancer.
She was referring to someone on Governor Perry’s staff who used the word “Retard” this has nothing to do with Rush, of course the left want Rush and Sarah to get into a fight but it’s NOT gonna happen. Rush already said today on his show that Sarah is a lifelong listener to his show
Rush can be a real ‘jock’. These are the rare kinds of things
where he shows himself to be un-Christian (besides the close-to-smarmy stuff, which has dies down considerably over the years).
He’s becoming close to a goader. What he’s got to watch out for is that his psyche go sore or even shot thanks to the persecutions.
Yes, so let's limit language. Tht's a great solution! If we could just get rid of all words used to convey disrespect, then we could all live in peace and harmony! There's no downside!

Rush himself stated that Sarah knows what his program is about because MSDNC tried to create a rift between Palin & Rush.
That said, Palin is now stuck in a hard spot because she supports Perry. Look for the libs to demand that Perry fire his spokesperson or to force Palin to denounce Perry. Personally Palin shouldn't support him. He's been in office for 10 freaking years.
I love Sarah, but I have a real problem with the word police. Just because someone’s decided a certain word is suddenly offensive to them doesn’t mean the entire English speaking population needs to change the way they speak just to make sure no one’s ever offended. That’s a liberal game. I won’t play it.
I wish Sarah would lghten up, if indeed she said any of this.
We can’t have a hyper-sensitive person in the WH of any political stripe.
Rahm is an a*****e but I’m weary of wqlking on eggshells so as not to offend officially protected groups.

Rush is an entertainer. He’s not a pseudo-politician or -public-servant, nor does he work for one.
Rush made a point, one with a twist of humor.
