Democrats ponder how to take down Scott Brown
Politico ^ | January 27, 2010 | David Catanese

While the dust has barely settled from Scott Brown’s miracle win in Massachusetts, shellshocked Bay State Democrats have begun pondering how to upend the newly minted GOP star when he stands for reelection in 2012.

Defending the congressional delegation’s seats during the supercharged 2010 cycle is certainly priority No. 1 — but ignoring the proverbial elephant in the room until after the November elections would be political malpractice, according to some Democrats.

The list of potential challengers to Brown when he seeks his first full term will be long, but the nature of his populist-fueled upset arguably widens the pool of candidates and heightens the early scrutiny each will face.

“I think they’re going to have to think about it now and then get serious about it the day after the elections in November,” said Robert Whitney, a Boston Democratic committee chairman. “I think there will be a lot of people willing to take a shot, and they’ve got to start looking at it early because of the fundraising involved,” he added.

The initial list of potential contenders is fairly obvious.

Rep. Michael Capuano, who placed second to Martha Coakley in the Democratic special election primary, is known as a fiery, sharp-tongued liberal with a working-class touch and will quite likely eye a second try.

When it comes to the 5 or 6 paragraphs involved in the ‘luisiana purchase’ demand to know why they just didnt SAY Lousiana when the whole thing can ONLY MEAN luisiana. ANd ask why the convoluted language to hide that fact and what other bombs are hidden with convoluted lanuage

The Democrats are contemplating unseating Brown when they have yet to fix the economy. Hilarious! All these morons can do is think about themselves.

He’s a senator, not a representative. His term will not be up in 2012.

He is a Senator finishing Kennedy's term as the result of a special election.
