I kind of hope they do it now, because this would simply be traffic gold. The GOP Senate leadership has privately settled on a strategy to derail health reform if Dems try to pass the Senate bill with a fix through reconciliation, aides say: Unleash an endless stream of amendments designed to stall for time and to force Dems to take untenable votes
Senator Judd Gregg is getting some attention today because he vowed to make it an extraordinarily difficult exercise for Dems to pass the Senate bill through the House while getting the Senate to fix the bill with a sidecar through reconciliation
[T]heres no limit on the number of amendments GOPers can offer, [a Republican] aide said, or on their subject matter. A senior Democratic aide confirmed that this is the case and that its a concern weighing on Dems.

Is this a sign the Pubbies are growing a pair???
Sigh...one can only hope!!!
awesome...
They should also have each amendment read out loud word for word. It’s ok to say no.
Sure, I think they finally realized that when the Republican polititian with the "biggest pair", so-to-speak, was a woman (Sarah Palin, ALL woman), they figured they should probably start using thiers.
Just checked the US Senate website and he is shown casting two votes on Jan. 26, a full week after his term expired.
That is just wrong.
It's amazing what just one little ole' Scott Brown victory in Massachusetts can do.
Are you serious? What did he vote on?
Its not a sign of anything. The GOP always threatens and never really ever does.
One of them was on an amendment by Sen Coburn to rescind $120 billion of federal spending (voted down 37-57, mostly a party-line vote, but with Bayh and Feingold voting “yea” and Snowe and Bond voting “nay”...the 6 not voting were Byrd, Mikulski, Roberts, Voinovich, Warner and Webb). I don’t remember what the other one was but it had the same or similar numbers. This one was labeled S. Amdt. 3303 to S. Amdt. 3299 to H.J. Res. 45.
How about a "Balanced Budget Amendment"
How about a "Fair Tax Amendment"
How about a "10X the DoD Budget Amendment"
This could go on forever ...
I hear ya, I hear ya. What I want to see in our Republicans is a mean streak, a junk-yard dog attitude when it comes our liberties and the US Constitution.
>> The GOP always threatens and never really ever does.
I sure hope you’re wrong this time, but I must admit their sorry record backs you up.
I hope they do it too
I wish they would keep some of their plans quiet!!! Let the Dems take the hit for actually going nuclear, and THEN hit them with the admendments.....Dont tell them what you’re going to do, unless they dont really intend to do it if they call your bluff!
You can’t keep too quiet. If the house passes the senate bill, even if we can stop the reconciliation that was wanted by the house, we are still stuck with a lousy bill.
We need to convince the house democrats that there is no way the reconciliation is going to work, so they don’t feel comfortable passing the senate bill.
I still worry that after the next election, the democrats voted out of office will vote for the senate bill out of spite.
I think this is because reconciliation is a different procedure where every line can be challenged.
