The Obama administration is allowing Haitians who were in the United States illegally on Jan. 12 to apply for temporary protected status. The status will allow Haitians to stay for 18 months and work while earthquake recovery continues on their home island. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas says applications can be filed as soon as official notice is published in the Federal Register, probably Thursday.

This is BS. Force them to say in their country and give them the ability to establish a viable government and country.
The agency, part of the Department of Homeland Security, is expecting about 100,000 to 200,000 applications.
“We are drawing on expertise from the past” to be ready for the onslaught, said Mayorkas, who also cautioned applicants to be wary of people who may try to scam those looking for help filling out applications.
The U.S. has granted temporary protected status to about 350,000 people from a handful of Central American and African countries.
I thought if you had ever traveled to Haiti, you couldn’t be a bone marrow donor... guess this goes along with the destroy America first regime.

There’s a big difference between Haiti and Mexico. Mexico has resources and is huge. If a hurricane hits Mexico, people can just move to a location that wasn’t affected by the hurricane. A hurricane in Haiti covers the entire island. If the crops are destroyed in one place, they’ve probably been destroyed everywhere else on the island as well. This is temporary, so I’m ok with it, but only because it’s Haiti. It’s not like Obama is going to track down and send these people back to Haiti if they don’t register. If it was anywhere else, I’d be totally against this. But because it’s Haiti, I’m ok with it.

Like Glenn has been saying, they are going for amnesty next. They think they will kick the politically correct door open and we won’t be able to fight them because it’s Haiti. Stay and work? I think he means stay and collect unemployment along with the +10% unemployed citizens. How does it help Haiti to keep Haitians who were here when the earthquake hit? What is the purpose other than to force Congress to pass amnesty. And rile up the Tea Partiers.
Sure...get your “temporary protected status”, then in 18 months hunt them down and deport them back to their country where they belong. At least we’ll know who they are and where they live now. At least thats what I tell myself the government will do, I know the truth will be that they are staying in the US for the rest of their lives to live off welfare.
