It’s crush time for Scott Brown in Senate race

By Margery Eagan | Thursday, January 14, 2010

The “let-them-eat-cake” campaign.

That’s how bad it is for Martha Coakley: Even some big-time Democrats are calling her Senate run that.

What happened?

Well, man crushes are breaking out all over. Every time you turn on cable, there’s chiseled Scott Brown doing the Mount Rushmore thing.

There’s the two Rushmore-ettes, Brown’s gorgeous daughters, jumping into the fray. Revved-up voters are 15 deep in line for absentee ballots in the People’s Republic of Sharon, for God’s sake, and across the state. (Sharon Town Clerk Marlene B. Chused does caution: Sharon is among many towns also voting Tuesday on 2 overrides or other hot local issues. Still, she said, “This is much higher than we’ve experienced for a state or local election.”

Meanwhile the attorney general, who’s not done a star turn with Sean Hannity on Fox News, turned up yesterday at the Kit Clark Senior Center in Dorchester, a bracing reminder of where we’re all headed. Ethel Hart was not the only Kit Clark regular confused by the media crush, but she kept her tart edge.

“I forget my own age,” she laughed and slapped her side when asked for it. “And I want to forget it too. I’m 92. I’m too old! I wish I could be 75!”

So who’s she voting for Tuesday? “When I get to the polls I’ll find out who’s running for what,” Ethel said. “That’s if somebody will take me there.”

For her part, Martha took to the microphone and denied that she’s getting “desperate.” She said she didn’t know details about fisticuffs between a campaign worker and a Weekly Standard reporter (though it happened right next to her). She also refused to be baited into criticizing the chief Rushmore-ette, Ayla Brown, the “American Idol” star who called Coakley’s recent ads “inaccurate and misleading” for claiming her father sponsored an amendment denying emergency contraception to rape victims. For the record, he did.

But facts get lost when half the state’s in a swoon and the other half’s still lukewarm about crisp, cool Martha.

Yesterday, pollster Scott Rasmussen, whose latest poll called the once-supposed Coakley slam dunk too close to call, told me not to throw myself off the Tobin - yet. It’ll take a “perfect storm” for Brown to win, he said. Key is turnout: mountainous for Coakley, piddling for Brown.

My advice to Martha: Bring in the forklifts.

This column was short for her. The editorial staff must have edited out the anti-Catholic paragraphs.

The revelation that Brown posed nude several decades ago will probably enhance his popularity.

Of course, Scott Brown is doing well because of sexism. I knew it had to be that./s

Liberal nutcase Eagan endorses Coakley and her Crushing of Reporters.

Attorney General Coakley (D) aloofly supervises PhRMA/SEIU/DNC/Obama attacker Michael Meehan,
dressed in SEIU purple colors under his suit.
The goon hits hard for them, bringing down an unarmed,
innocent and unsuspecting reporter
and the Attorney General, representing the Massachusetts General Court,
quickly swore on Oath that she "saw nothing".

I would love to know the thinking behind giving Margery a talk show. She’s impossible to listen to. Always sounds like she has peanut butter stuck to the roof of her mouth. Her co-host Braude, though, an uber-liberal can be very funny.

Did Maggie have any comments about the fainting that went on during the ascension of “The One?”

I understand she’s a left wing lib, but this comment was hilarious. Sounds to me like she’s very pessimistic about Coakley’s chances.

Massachusetts’ own Marie Antoinette, Madame Deficit Martha Coakley, is not the standard-bearer of the Kennedy coat-of-arms, and with the passing of Ted (who now marks four months of sobriety), the whole machine got thrown open for inspection of its internal workings. These Boston IRA sympathizers are on their own now, and they just did not need this much exposure right now.

They may survive, and keep it together for ol’ Martha, but remember, she is a female, and the Boston Irish machine gives the XX faction short shrift. This is simply Democrats doing it to other Democrats.

PhRMA is not a union and does not have thugs on the street that rough up journalists like SEIU/DNC/Obama does.

FReegards!

"voters are 15 deep in line for absentee ballots "

Therein lies the "fix" for the dems.

The only medal that would enhance that proud uniform is a CIB! Of course being a Republican in MAssachews’ts he probably qualifies for one.

Hi,Agamemnon.
The facts, and probably Robin Cook would, say otherwise.

PhRMA represents AstraZeneca, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb,
Eli Lilly and Company, Genzyme Corporation, GlaxoSmithKline,
Hoffmann-La Roche, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Sanofi-Aventis,
Schering-Plough Corporation, and Wyeth
And in this case and it had one paid thug on the street
that did rough up a journalist exactly
like SEIU/DNC/Obama does.

On the other hand, PhRMA may not have had its operatives EAT
innocents yet, like SEIU.
