U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two suspects in separate incidents with warrants related to murder.

On Thursday, Nogales agents arrested a male who first claimed to be an illegal alien, but then admitted to being a U.S. citizen. A fingerprint check showed an active felony warrant out of Pima County for his arrest on a charge of first-degree murder. Daniel N. Taddey, 32, was charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in the Nov. 13, 2008, death of Frank T. Gonzales. He was turned over to Tucson police.

In a second incident Friday morning, agents assigned to the Ajo station arrested another man claiming to be an illegal immigrant. A fingerprint check revealed a felony warrant for the man’s arrest on a charge of attempted murder in Santa Ana, Calif. Agents also learned he was actually a U.S. citizen. He was turned over to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.

Other Border Patrol incidents of note:

• Agents at the Nogales station apprehended a Mexican national Wednesday who admitted he had been arrested and served time in prison. A fingerprint check revealed he had been convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14. He was held.

• Ajo agents apprehended a Mexican national Thursday wanted in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on aggravated felony charges.

• Ajo agents were processing a male Mexican national Wednesday and discovered he had several arrest records ranging from disorderly conduct to molesting a child under the age of 18 and served time in a California correctional institution. He was held.

• Agents from the Nogales station arrested a male Chinese national Wednesday for illegally entering the United States. He was held for further processing.

• Ajo agents manning a forward operating base in the west desert area Thursday responded to a rescue beacon and found four individuals in need of assistance. All four were Mexicans in the U.S. illegally.

Good thing we have to emergency beacons or the apprehension numbers would be even lower, huh.
