Union officials say President Barack Obama plans to meet with them next week to discuss their concerns about a proposed tax on high-cost insurance plans that would help pay for his health care overhaul plan.

The officials say they view the meeting Monday as a chance to forcefully make their case that the tax is bad policy and bad politics. Unions contend that taxes on so-called Cadillac plans would be passed along to workers.

I thought that one of the major reasons why “health care reform” (without reform) was pushed by Obama was that the large unions had major debts due to their health care systems. They wanted Uncle to take over the costs while they still received the excellent contracted benefits.

Up here, I know a retiree from a company which saw his health care costs jump from $600 to $6000/year. He can’t pay it having lost most of his retirement in the stock market crash.

Behind “CLOSED” Doors? So much for transparency... There is no doubt when we take back our government there will be so much corruption found (along with what was already there) watch groups will have to keep on an eye the newly elected in order to push to clean up our government, and we have a long road ahead of us to clean up this horrific mess.

The unions'll sign off on the tax.

Obamacare'll pass.

Then the tax'll be repealed later on.

Big Union: “hey Mr O, we want to have our member’s Insurance paid for my those corrupt, rich, Americans. Go tax em and take care of it will ya”.

Big Zero: “no problemo, you got it, done like dinner, don’t forget the votes you have to give me in 2012”.

Big Union: “not a problem, you could count the votes today”!

IIRC, several unions “Cadillac” health insurance plans have been specifically exempted from the tax (e.g., the Longshoreman’s Union).

All the more reason for a constitutional challenge to this socialist monstrosity.

Mark my words, unions’ll end up getting a “special” exemption from having to pay the cadillac plan tax.

Another little outrage in the HC Bill is the attack on married people, they will pay $2,000 MORE a year on their care than people co-habitating will. It is IN the bill and I’d love everyone to write their congressional reps and Senators and tell them about this. Just one more burden on marriage and an outright attack on it as well.

What about the access to everyone’s (except members of Congress, of course), financial information. Is that still in the bill. What records do they want and WHY?
