National Security Adviser Says Airline Bomber Report Will 'Shock' Americans

Americans will feel "a certain shock" when a report is released today detailing the intelligence failures that could have prevented the alleged Christmas Day airline bomber from ever boarding the plane.

In an interview Wednesday with USA Today, White House national security adviser James Jones said President Obama "is legitimately and correctly alarmed that things that were available, bits of information that were available, patterns of behavior that were available, were not acted on."

Still, even with whatever details and improvements are revealed Thursday, questions will remain. Senate committees plan hearings later this month.

And it remains unclear whether any top officials from Obama's not-quite-year-old administration will be fired over the debacle.

"I don't know what the final outcome in terms of hiring and firing will be," Gibbs said.

He said no personnel announcements were expected on Thursday.

Two legislative officials familiar with intelligence matters, one in the House of Representatives and one in the Senate, said Wednesday that it appeared unlikely that anyone in the Obama administration would be fired over the incident. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Charlie Allen, the former head of collection at CIA, said the government suffers from a shortage of experienced intelligence analysts.

Analysts take pieces of information -- like the disparate threads available before Christmas -- look at them, correlate them, and then make a "very strong leap in order to reach a decision," Allen said. "It takes experience.

Anyone "Shocked" over the lacking security? It was obvious Democrats bellyached about everything GW Bush did to increase security, and they were going to offer less security.

May have helped if they hadn't transferred some analysts to the North Slope to watch ice melt.

Other Nuggets today: Security decision to question the suspect AFTER ARRIVAL in Detroit, deserves a special efficiency award.

Unanswered: HOW did suspect manage to get seat 19A? Two choices: Chance or design. Chance can be eliminated NOW, and inexpensively.

A mosest proposal: Selective hardening of the vulnerable area, something like alternating layers of kevlar and titanium or more suitable armoring on floor and over tanks,
combined with hardening of seat construction to make difficult ANY 1-2 pound device to destroy the aircraft.

What else would you expect from a bunch of Homo-Leninists; they’re only interested in protecting their jobs, terrorists and “friends of government!”

"White House national security adviser James Jones says Obama is rightly alarmed"

Then how does this jive with John Brennan telling Chris Wallace there was no 'Smoking Gun'

Is Jones throwing Brennan to the lions or just covering his own A$$?

Now, now common sense need not be applied; the government has it under control. Just as they do with SS, Medicare, Banking & Investing, Business Ethics, Home Mortgages, profitable Postal Service, Illegal Aliens…and oh ya Healthcare.

Where do you think seat 19A was located on which part of the Airbus A330?

“Analysts take pieces of information — like the disparate threads available before Christmas — look at them, correlate them, and then make a “very strong leap in order to reach a decision,” Allen said. “It takes experience.”

Most of the information that was available in two to four days following the attempt did not require Analysts to figure out. It took two seconds for everyday citizens to determine the administration screwed up BIG TIME and that he never shold have been on the plane even from Nigeria.

The first Department to screw up was State. They are in charge of passports and visas and knew that England refused him a visa. They had the information and more months ago then his father went to the Embassy and talked with the CIA, that was screw up 2 of many more to follow.

This administration went soft on all security policies and after two major warnings it bit them full clench right in the keester. Anything we see now is going to be all damage control spun to blame the CIA. But the CIA will come back fighting on this one going over, around and through the gatekeeper Panetta if necessary.

But Obama calls on America NOT to rush to judgment!

That said, he thought James Jones acted, "stupidly"!
