Hollow Words on Terrorism
.realclearpolitics.com ^ | 2 Jan, 2010 | Charles Krauthammer

Posted on 01/02/2010 9:51:02 PM PST by XHogPilot

The reason the country is uneasy is a distinct sense of not just incompetence but incomprehension. CIA interrogators will face a special prosecutor, and Khalid Sheik Mohammed will bask in a civilian trial in New York.

Obama banishes the term "war on terror."

Obama may have declared the war over. Unfortunately al-Qaeda has not.

More jarring still were Obama's references to the terrorist as a "suspect" who "allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device." You can hear the echo of FDR: "Yesterday, December 7, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- Japanese naval and air force suspects allegedly bombed Pearl Harbor."

Obama reassured the nation that this "suspect" had been charged. Reassurance? The president should be saying: We have captured an enemy combatant -- an illegal combatant under the laws of war: no uniform, direct attack on civilians -- and now to prevent future attacks, he is being interrogated

This absurdity renders hollow Obama's declaration that "we will not rest until we find all who were involved." Once we've given Abdulmutallab the right to remain silent, we have gratuitously forfeited our right to find out from him precisely who else was involved.

This is all quite mad even in Obama's terms. He sends 30,000 troops to fight terror overseas, yet if any terrorists come to attack us here, they are magically transformed from enemy into defendant.

The logic is perverse. If we find Abdulmutallab in an al-Qaeda training camp in Yemen, where he is merely preparing for a terror attack, we snuff him out with a Predator -- no judge, no jury, no qualms. But if we catch him in the United States in the very act of mass murder, he instantly acquires protection not just from execution by drone but even from interrogation.

This excerpt does this article no justice. Its a great read.

I wonder if Dr. Krauthammer is preparing a diagnosis of Obama mental state. Following here is a selection of sentences by Doctor Krauthammer, a profesionally trained psychiatrist:

And the CIA sends MOMMYS OF THREE to lead a clandestine team in a muslim hotbed of terrorist head choppers and suicide bombers.

And guess what happens.

We are just not serious.

This absurdity renders hollow Obama's declaration that "we will not rest until we find all who were involved." Once we've given Abdulmutallab the right to remain silent, we have gratuitously forfeited our right to find out from him precisely who else was involved, namely those who trained, instructed, armed and sent him.

And the CIA sends MOMMYS OF THREE

I'm waiting to hear back from a co-worker about his son. He's a "company man" now in Afghanistan. Former USAF intel, Arab linguist specialty. His background fits the role of the personnel killed at Khost airbase.

The OAMA cracks are beginning to show. He blamed the CIA for failutre on flight 235 one day, and praised the 8 CIA opertaives who were killed in Afghanistan the next.

Which one is it?

Obama is beginning to flip flop all over the place. Self destruction is imminent! Dear Lord, make it soon, unavoidable, public and powerful.

The CIA is in pre revolt mode.

Obama needs to go back to classifying the battle with terrorists as a war on terror, away from the criminal model he now insists on.Its the only way to keep America safe, the Bush pre-emptive strike strategy. If Obama doesn’t go back to that in spades, America cannot be kept secure, and Obama is history the next time a sucessful attack is mounted on America by terrorists.

Will Obama bite that bullet? My guess is NOPE!

Is Obama still AWOL and on vacation? History will not judge him kindly. It did not view Jimmy Carter with much respect. At least not in this country.

We are led now by the newly educated
in the United States. The old system
creates a man who understands the
absurdities of the professed policies.

The new system is about feelings. How
would you feel if you were Abdulmutallub.
How does a military trial for him make
the Muslim world feel. How does it feel
to be associated with terrorism.

If we don’t make people feel bad, they
won’t attack us. If gays don’t feel
bad, they won’t be sexually confused,
etc., etc., ad naseum.

Logic v. Feeling. I feel for this
country.

The difference between Obama and Carter is that Obama can't stand to be around the White House during crises, and Carter wouldn't leave the Rose Garden during all his tribulations.

The similarity is they are both weak and useless.

It is amazing when you read through Charles’ article and mentally list off the absurdities and contradictions. How can sane balanced people try and defend the litany of inconsistencies and say that there is a consistent logic or plan?

The healthcare debate in one thing. It is bad enough to play with peoples lives in the medical arena condemning them to have to wait on the outcome of a committee decision of a regulatory determination to decide if they are going to be allowed to have an aspirin. We know that medicare is going to become a nightmare heaped upon nightmares. It is broke already and will run out of money in 7 years. The healthcare proposals will hasten its demise. The Mayo clinic announcement just 2 days ago that it is going to refuse to take medicare patients at one of its clinics is just a precursor of what is coming.

“More than 3,000 patients eligible for Medicare, the government’s largest health-insurance program, will be forced to pay cash if they want to continue seeing their doctors at a Mayo family clinic in Glendale, northwest of Phoenix, said Michael Yardley, a Mayo spokesman. “

This is just the thin end of the wedge. Medicare is going to collapse whether or no. The healthcare proposals simply guarantee it will happen shortly.

But in national defense and the safety of the American people there is no such foregone conclusion. We do have the opportunity to kill off jihadist crazies and if we capture them we have the opportunity to question them get information and then target more for treatment. It is not a foregone conclusion that we will lose the war, nor is it a foregone conclusion that an American population center will suffer mightily. But this administration seems unbelievably bent on insuring that conditions are in place to give the terrorists a fighting chance to bring such an occurrence about. Think about it:

* . . . The military decries the potential negative affect on diversity as an outcome of Fort Hood. In other words, they would prefer to run the risk of another occurrence and the loss of lives rather than ratchet back the absurd policies which enabled it to happen in the first place.

* . . . The administration is putting KSM et al on trial in a civilian court increasing the likelihood that they will go free. If in fact Holder is taken at his word that KSM “will be convicted and executed” before trial, the whole point of showing how “fair” the US judicial system supposedly is, becomes lost.

* . . . The treatment of the christmas bomber as an isolated criminal and putting him in the justice system prevents the military from gathering further information. We know that he said there are 25 more of his kind on the way. Why not get their names and all of their contacts?

* . . . By simply refusing profiling and allowing the TSA morons to grope grandma rather than streamline processes and eliminate obviously stupid procedures in the name of political correctness, the administration is letting the terrorists win if part of the goal is to simply disrupt the lives of Americans. How 21st century is it to adopt the tactic of refusing to let people go to the toilet 60 minutes before landing? How far have we really come if this is the best we can do?

* . . . By continuing to release the gitmo detainees it heightens the absurdity of a notion of fighting a terrorist. A person who will strap on a bomb and blow himself up for 72 virgins now, if caught, has the option of going through the lottery of the US justice system, promise to undertake art therapy as rehabilitation and then can make his way back to Yemen to try for the virgins again. Its idiotic.

* . . . That cretinous toad napolitano, apart from uttering the stupid statement when first reporting on the attempt which will follow her to her grave, is more concerned about returning US servicemen and homegrown Christian fundamentalists than proven jihadist killers. And is unwilling to describe jihadists as islamic terrorists but is quite willing to so condemn her fellow countrymen.

These are just a few instances off the top of my head, which underlines the palpable stupidity of the current administrations policies. No-one in their right mind could say that it is a list of sound safe policies. One might try and play games and parse the language or adorn the idiocy with the adjective of “nuance” and “thoughtfulness” but it won’t work. A policy which increases the risk that someone will slip through the net and kill americans when the opportunity exists to prevent the occurrence should be held as guilty as the perpetrator. Attempts have been made to prosecute gun manufacturers for crimes committed by gang bangers. Why should not the administration be judged by the same standard?

Wait a Minute! If Obummer is behaving in an illogical and irrational manner, shouldn`t the 25th Amendment apply here, based upon reason of insanity, viz “... that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,..”?

Expect more terrorist’s attacks to come as long as incompetence rules Washington and no one has the guts nether the balls to call a spade a spade and refuses to admit that any true believer in Islam may be hazardous to your health. On the other hand what can we expect when there is a good chance that the top dog who runs the show may be a closet Muslim himself? What other explanation could there be for his and his cohorts actions and behavior?
That’s my take Saint Germaine
