Howie’s back! Sunday column ping

Carr-nac the Magnificent sez ...
By Howie Carr | Sunday, January 3, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

I am Carr-nac the Magnificent! And as the snowflakes fly this morning, here are my predictions for the hackerama in 2010.

Sen. Anthony Galluccio, Drunkard-Cambridge, will not be in the Senate by the end of the year, maybe not by the end of the week.

Christy Mihos will go through three campaign managers before the GOP primary in September, which he will lose to Charlie Baker.

Eric Holder will continue his disastrous tenure as attorney general, warmly welcoming ever more Gitmo terrorists into the U.S., brooming Black Panther voter-intimidation cases, accusing all white people of being racists - right up until the moment it becomes apparent that Deval Patrick cannot be re-elected governor.

At which time Deval will resign as governor to succeed Holder, saying, “As much as I love Massachusetts, I must answer the call of my president - and my country.”

In his first act as acting governor, Tim Murray will declare May 13 “Dunkin’ Donuts Day” in the commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Treasurer Tim Cahill will - wait, who’s Tim Cahill?

If Sen. Scott Brown loses two weeks from Tuesday (and doubting infidels please note that Carr-nac said if, not when), whichever shady solon the House selects to replace Martha Coakley will not be elected to a full term as AG in November.

In fact, whatever dodgy Democrat wins the vote in the Legislature will be crushed in the primary in September, probably by Norfolk DA Bill Keating. This means you, Charlie Murphy.

Secretary of State Bill Galvin will not run for AG. Scott Brown will - if he loses to Martha on Jan. 19. Sorry, the stars refuse to tell Carr-nac whether Brown will prevail in that fight.

Steve Grossman will not be the Democratic nominee for treasurer. Nature abhors a vacuum, which is a perfect description of Steve Grossman as a politician.

Think Steve Pagliuca, without the charisma.

Many toothpaste jokes at the St. Patrick’s Day breakfast this year.

Sal DiMasi - guilty! He is sentenced to serve as co-host on fellow criminal House Speaker Felon Finneran’s cruel and unusually bad radio talk show. It will be renamed “Crime Does Pay!” . . . although not as much as before, because the Felon’s salary will be cut by half, and maybe more, when his contract expires next month.

The over-under on the number of puff pieces the Globe will write about new Newton Mayor Setti Warren is 87. Carr-nac the Magnificent recommends the over.

Released from the House of Correction, ex-Sen. Galluccio will soon arrive by ambulance at the emergency room of Mount Auburn Hospital, claiming a back injury and asking the ER physician to write him a small prescription for Oxys - say, 5,000.

The GOP will pick up three seats in the state Senate and six in the House, boosting their total representation to 29 out of 200. An improvement, but still pathetic, and not enough to sustain a veto by new Gov. Charlie Baker.

Worcester County Sheriff Guy Glodis will rue the day he decided to give up his soft sinecure to run for state auditor, as once again gender trumps all and Suzanne Bump wins the Democratic nomination to succeed Joe DeNucci.

Joe DeNucci will be very happy when Glodis loses.

Though many of these predictions will turn out to be wrong, Carr-nac is confident that at least that one prediction is written in the stars.

You know, I love the show, but his columns always fall flat to me. Maybe he’s trying too much to appeal to Joe Sixpack, rather than the educated Globe reader.

I wouldn't bet the farm on “Governor Baker”. He may win, perhaps not, but he cannot do anything more to alienate Reagan Republicans. Stylistically, he's a limp-wristed version of Mitt Romney, a panty waste who has been handed much of what he has in life.

I’ve been sending this all over the USA: Please ping your Freeper Friends....

Friends: Please join me in helping Scott Brown become US Senator from Massachusetts.
His election will reduce the Dems to 59 votes and can ‘Stop the Health Care Bill’.......Julie

On January 19th, the state of Massachusetts will hold a special election to fill Ted Kennedy’s SENATE seat. There are 3 candidates: Republican State Sen. Scott Brown, Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley, and Independent Joe Kennedy.

If this seat goes to Scott Brown, the Democrats loose their 60th seat, and will no longer be able to break a Republican filibuster.

Please go to Scott Brown’s website http://brownforussenate.com/ to donate online or mail a check to: Brown for US Senate...200 Reservoir Street, Needham, MA 02494

Also on left side of that home page watch the TV Ad that is driving the MA Dem’s nuts. With your donations the Brown Campaign can run TV Ads all over Massachusetts.

It’s very unlikely that the House and Senate will be able to “reconcile” their Obamacare bills in time for a vote before Jan 19th!! We can help to stop the government takeover of our Health Care by sending Scott Brown to Washington!

This is a GREAT way to Nationalize the elections in 2010 too!! Let’s roll out national support for Republican Scott Brown. Flood his campaign with millions of small donations!! Send E-mails to our friends, family, and anyone else you can think of to start spreading the word about this race.

Anyone across the country who is interested in phone-banking on Scott Brown’s behalf, please contact Field Director Brad Hansen at:

brad@brownforussenate.com or call 509-595-4683. Brad will set you up with a user-name and password. You will receive an email with your unique user name and password, as well as a link to the website where you will log in.

Once you are logged in, watch the tutorial on how to use the system and then you can start making calls.

Wed column ping. Had to be re-written after the news broke late in Howie’s show that Gallucio’s leaving

Anthony Galluccio tops in his field - bar none
By Howie Carr | Wednesday, January 6, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

Somewhere this morning in Cambridge, there’s an empty barstool. Actually, there’s a lot of them, and not just in Cambridge. In Charlestown, Chelsea, Everett and Revere, too.

Sen. Anthony Galluccio, a man who truly believed that drinking doubles did make a party, has been dethroned as the King of Barstool Mountain. We can now waive the five-year waiting period and vote him directly into the Alcohol of Fame.

Poor Galluch. He forgot what they say on the street. Don’t do the Sensodyne if you can’t do the time.

Since every scandal must have a name that ends in -gate, let’s call this one Colgate.

I’d suggest a fitting tribute to the man, the legend, the hangover. How about the Senate passes a law in his name? We could ban open containers of toothpaste in automobiles.

Call it Anthony’s Law.

Colgate Total Whitening - who knew it was a gateway drug? Are you sure, senator, that you weren’t brushing your teeth with Black and Whitener?

Or maybe Harvey’s Bristol Gleem? Or (my favorite among these joke names that have circulated in recent days) Arm and Hammered.

Remember what Jail-uccio said a week before Christmas after this latest rendezvous with a bad ice cube?

“I have made a firm decision,” he said, “that there will be no alcohol in my life.”

And sure enough he didn’t get caught drinking - for almost 72 whole hours.

Does the hackerama have any clue as to the Scope of the electorate’s anger about what’s been going on around here? I think they started getting it yesterday, when the poll came out showing Scott Brown closing in on Martha Coakley. The Democrats needed this OUI distraction like Jail-uccio needs another Jello shot.

Amazing, though, that he still refuses to admit to drinking during his house arrest.

“I also ask that my colleagues support my effort to appeal the recent violation with respect to alcohol use on the strongest possible terms.”

Senator, the first step is admitting you have a problem. OK?

By the way, Senator, this needn’t be the end of your political career. You live in Billerica now. Their former senator was the perv in the Prius, Jim Marzilli. Now that district is represented by Ken “Double Dip” Donnelly.

Think about running in the primary next September, Jail-uccio. If you run against Donnelly, it’ll be Double Dip vs. Double Shot.

You have to be a Born Masshole to understand. Look at a movie made in Boston no actor can imitate a Boston accent, I lived there for 42 years and the natives could pick out my foreign birth, out of state.

Fri column ping. Will also post this column on its own for people all over to enjoy

Feeling blue? Take a second look at Scott Brown
By Howie Carr | Friday, January 8, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Columnists

You may be a Scott Brown voter if:

* You’re in a union, and you’re going to have to pay a 40 percent tax on your “Cadillac” health-care plan if Martha Coakley gets a chance to vote for Obama’s health-care rationing bill.
* You’re still waiting for that property-tax relief that Deval Patrick promised you in 2006.
* You’re on kidney dialysis and you have to pay for your treatment . . . but illegal aliens don’t.
* You’ve been rear-ended by a drunken state senator.
* You’ve been groped in Lowell by a state senator who, when arrested, gave police the name of a state rep.
* You lost your appetite for lunch one day when you observed a female state senator in a restaurant stuffing FBI cash bribes into her bra.
* You watch this crime wave emanating from the State House and wonder why the attorney general can’t seem to find one single solon to arrest, when the feds have no difficulty whatsoever nailing House speaker after speaker after speaker on serious felonies - not the technicalities Martha Coakley’s gone after Sal DiMasi for.
* You own a package store in the Merrimack Valley, and you’re getting killed by the hacks’ new 6.25 percent sales tax on alcohol, on top of the 37 percent excise tax.
* You believe that if someone rapes his 23-month-old niece with a hot curling iron, the district attorney should go after the rapist even before the child’s mother files a complaint - even if the perp is a politically wired cop and the DA is running for higher office.
* You believe that if the governor’s appointees rubberstamp a $44 million utility-rate increase, and then the next week Deval pockets $7,000 in contributions from that same power company’s executives (and spouses) at their lobbyist’s office, perhaps the attorney general should at least have . . . a comment.
* You don’t have a big problem with making county jailbirds pay $5 a day room and board at the House of Correction, even if the SJC does.
* You do, however, have a problem with Billy Bulger’s $198,205.92 state pension (with survivor’s benefits).
* Your local property-tax bill is rising almost as fast as the value of your home is dropping.
* You wonder why Martha Coakley never apologized to Tookie Amirault.
* You’ve had to wait hours in line at a Registry office to renew your driver’s license after they shut down your local branch because of the state’s alleged fiscal crisis - but they still want to give free tuition at state colleges to illegal aliens.
* You’re a veteran, and you wonder why you’re supposed to vote for an ardent supporter of the administration whose Homeland Security secretary refuses to call real terrorists terrorists, but who last spring issued a memo to local cops warning that “the return of military veterans . . . could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups.”
* You can’t figure out why you’re supposed to care about the endorsement of Martha Coakley by some woman from Louisiana whose father did his own bit at Club Fed, and by some guy who put a woman in a wheelchair for life back on Nantucket.
* You did at least some of your Christmas shopping in New Hampshire to beat the 25 percent sales tax increase the Democrats imposed on working people to pay for the corrupt hackerama that Martha Coakley so proudly endorses.
* Your federal income taxes are going through the roof in 2011 when the Bush tax cuts expire - and Martha Coakley thinks that’s just wonderful.
* You’d like to send a message to the limousine liberals who are driving this state and this country off a cliff.

Not that the dems’ candidate is any better, nor that I could vote in MA anyway, but from what little I’ve heard from Scott Brown on Howie’s show he appears to be a lightweight.

He strikes me as a salesman of some sort, albeit not a very good one.
