Just wanted to mention that “The Pusher” was written by the late, great Hoyt Axton. (for those of a certain age, he was also the tinkering inventor in Gremlins).
As well as "Snowblind Friend"
Hoyt was a Joy to the World...
Gregg Allman has said that he learned the basics of song writing from Hoyt.
“Just wanted to mention that The Pusher was written by the late, great Hoyt Axton. (for those of a certain age, he was also the tinkering inventor in Gremlins).”
Hoyt Axton performed live at my high school about 1964 or 65.
He drank wine off stage, and broke strings onstage.
Great songwriter. Visited the pusher, hisself.

Look at all the songs he wrote.
You’re joking me! For real?
Yep, as well as “Never Been To Spain” and “Joy To the World”. His mother Mae Axton wrote “Heartbreak Hotel”, too. I’ve heard that the movie “Honeysuckle Rose” was supposed to be his deal, but he quit after arguing with the director and Willie Nelson was brought in. Later the title was changed to “On The Road Again” after that song went so big. I think Hoyt also wrote the old Kingston Trio song “Greenback Dollar” and did some bit part on the old Bonanza series.

My favorite Hoyt Axton song was Greenback Dollar. I first heard it performed by the original Kingston Trio with Dave Guard, Bob Shane and Nick Reynolds. I think Bob Shane did the lead vocal.
