Obama ties failed plane attack to al Qaeda [Whew, I was getting worried!]

HONOLULU (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama said on Friday it appeared the man suspected of trying to bomb a Detroit-bound plane on Christmas was a member of al Qaeda and had been trained and equipped by the Islamic militant network.

Defending his administration's counterterrorism efforts amid scathing Republican criticism, Obama said he received preliminary results of the reviews he ordered into air travel screening procedures and a "terrorist watchlist system" and expected final results in the days to come.

Obama, who is on vacation in Hawaii, had called for an immediate study of what he termed "human and systemic failures" that allowed 23-year-old Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to get on a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on December 25 allegedly with explosives in his clothes.

"The investigation into the Christmas Day incident continues, and we're learning more about the suspect," Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address, posted on the White House website on Friday local time.

"It appears that he joined an affiliate of al Qaeda, and that this group -- al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula -- trained him, equipped him with those explosives and directed him to attack that plane headed for America," Obama said.

The president's comments were his most explicit to date tying the suspect with the al Qaeda group.

WOW, the tough-minded Obamanators are on a role! They’ve heard of Al Qaeda, what’s next? Obama covering his ears and yelling “nyah, nyah, Osama is a big meanie!”

Obama Administration’s Ideas on Improving Airline and Homeland Security (rough draft)

1) require all pilots and flight crews to be Muslims - would jihad terrorists kill fellow Muslims?

2) require every commercial flight to be equipped with a parachute for every passenger and crew member

3) require everyone’s 85 yr old grandparents to have thorough “crotch inspections” to make sure they are not hiding any explosives

4) put CAIR in charge of the TSA, with close assistance and support from the SEIU thugs.... CAIR will be able to “reach out” to all terrorists and persuade them to mend their ways..... security at airports will no longer be needed, but the SEIU will ensure that huge numbers of unionize employees get paid to report to “work” every day

5) now that Janet Napolitano has proved her great value to the nation she must be made Secretary of Defense

6) since everyone knows that terrorism is fed by poverty, and that sons of wealthy 3rd world bankers feel especially impoverished and desperate when living in $4 million apartments in London, there is no limit to the potential “redistribution” programs that must be enacted to take money from the producers and give it to the most whiny and/or ideological among the human race

7) since everyone knows that jihad terrorists are mainly just very concerned about the natural environment under threat from AGW, it is time to enact the strictest possible cap-and-trade legislation, immediately.

8) Since many Muslims have “religious” objections to the new types of passenger scanners, or indeed to any scanners at all, there will now be a protected “Muslim aisle” to bypass those crowded TSA lines for boarding aircraft, and it will need no TSA staffing at all..... for each person passing through will be required to sign a form (and drop it in the box) indicating that they are unarmed and have no terrorist intentions. (since we all know they are the holiest and most devout peoples in the world, this pledge can be relied upon absolutely)....

9) Now that it’s known that so many jihad terrorists are recruited and brainwashed in Londonistan, it’s time to give the Brits an ultimatum: either they crack down or all of us on this side of the pond will refuse ever to sing “God Save the Queen”

10) Now that it’s known how badly the sons of wealthy Nigerian bankers feel about their plight and life prospects, it is time to set them (such bankers’ sons) all up with their very own 419 scams -— if these promising young men realized how successful they could be with “Internet businesses” of their very own, what possible motive could they have to turn to terrorism?

What a joke. I, hesitatingly, flew today, yesterday. I saw no noticeable changes in security. Phoenix to Chicago was not too scary. I did my own profiling and had a handful of uniformed military personnel flying on the flight so I was not too nervous.

Once in Chicago at the international terminal it was, ofcourse, a free for all. Jihadi profile fitting types everywhere. Luckily my plane to Sweden was pretty homogenous. I think my husband was the most swarthy looking gent on the plane.

Nevertheless, it was unnerving flying especially with my kids and I would not have gotten on a plane if it weren't nearly absolutely necessary. I saw no extra security, no dogs, no nothing out of the ordinary.

That said, I was planning another trip home in the spring. I won't be doing it now. I might take a small flight somewhere within Europe and I will fly home next summer but other than that you won't catch me back on a plane with these incompetents at the helm.

Let me tell you about my New Year's Day flight from Atlanta to Seattle. We're waiting at the gate area and here comes this (what looked like to me) tall American Black women all bedecked out in the usual female Muslim gear, you know, the silk headscarf and covered from neck to ankle with nice looking clothing (I don't know what they call it). Anyway, she waltzes up to the counter, gets a seat assignment, walks around the whole seating area looking for a seat. She had a tad of an attitude but maybe it was just me. The whole crowd looks like, "Oh Jesus, now what do we do?" Then a bearded Sikh guy (fwiw he "felt" okay, but who knows) waltzes up to the counter with his family - anyway he had that Sikh turban thingy on - and gets a seat assignment.

We just so happen were in the last row of the plane, 44, and the Muslim gal was 3 seats ahead of us, the Sikh guy was 2 seats ahead of us on the other side. I'm wondering, did they both get a crotch search? A total cavity search? I knew they hadn't, so it was tension city all the way to Seattle. Did anyone talk with them, interview them, like the Israelis do? I'm sweating bullets when she went to the bathroom. I honest to God almost didn't get on the plane. . .

Anyway, we made it, but unless things change, it's just a matter of time until 300 men, women and children get killed. There were a lot of kids on the plane. . .
