Ex-gitmo goons did it! Freed Qaeda creeps hatched undie-cover plan to blow up Christmas jet

A Yemeni al Qaeda faction -- whose masterminds had been released from Guantanimo Bay -- claimed responsibility yesterday for orchestrating the bungled Christmas Day terror attack aboard a Detroit-bound jet.

Said Ali al Shihri and Muhammad al Awfi were captured in Afghanistan in late 2001, ABC News reported.

They were freed from Gitmo in November 2007 and promptly took up arms again against the United States after completing a bizarre "art-rehabilitation therapy" program in Saudi Arabia as a condition of their release.

"The so-called rehabilitation programs are a joke," a US diplomat told ABC.

This is the only type of rehabilitation that works on muzzies.

If this is true (and I’ve little doubt) it is clearly time that we go back to tried and true methods of dealing with our enemies:

Interrogation methods - any and all that prove useful. Then summary execution. There is no reason to treat all AlQ as what they are: spies. The way they operate IS via espionage. Anyone maintaining otherwise has a death wish. The Geneva Conventions recognize that such persons have no “POW rights”.

If civilized people wish to remain civilized, we have to return to these brutal methods, or we will not survive.

Whacked on the head with a battery in a sock, knuckles sternly rapped with a ruler, and shot three times.

Yep, that’d do it.

Meanwhile, our fearless leader says we’re going after ‘religious extremists’. He couldn’t bring himself to name the enemy. So if you fly, no more bathroom privileges for you before the plane lands!

The victims, all two hundred million Americans are to be penalized, hounded, bullied, shoes off, baggies of toothpaste, strip searched, etc.. But no profiling, of course. Muslims and Arab looking young men are let in, on board, whatever, free as birds. Maybe the next time, when they’re successful in murdering scores of Americans, we should sue the govt. Or else seriously think about kicking them out of office asap.

Islamofascist killers are either set free/or accorded legal privileges we don’t get as frequent flyers. Ann Coulter was the voice of sanity last night...also on Foxnews, a man whose name I can’t recall (mea culpa), he had a beard and was a former govt. official, maybe CIA. The democrats are looking dumber than usual and blaming GWB.

Rehabilitation Program? Rehabilitate to what? Something they never were to begin with?

The gentleman on Foxnews (ex-CIA, with beard) also said last night that they’ll bring this country to its knees through attrition, preposterously expensive and ultimately ineffectual methods of protecting the public. They’ll win, (and then Zero will be happy.) And those two ex-Gitmo fiends now busy in Yemen teaching Muslim youths the fine art of mass murder were indeed released by GWB.

Let's continue to watch Planet of the Arabs, so that we can remind ourselves of the image of Islamic terror.

Right. The Libs are in full throated chorus that it was Bush’s fault. But there was overwhelming pressure from media and Libs to close Gitmo, release everyone, don’t interrogate anyone, and, yes, Bush did succumb, but that did not bring any good things his way - just more blame and hatred. He should have listened to Cheney and stuck to his guns.

Michael Scheuer described how the rules under the Clinton administration were crafted to ensure the US would never hold prisoners. ********* Who invented the “extraordinary renditions” system?

Michael Scheuer: President Clinton, his security counsellor Sandy Berger and his terrorism counsellor Richard Clarke instructed the CIA in autumn 1995 to destroy Al-Qaida. We asked the president what we should do with the arrested persons? Clinton replied that this was our problem. The CIA indicated that they are not jailors. It was then suggested we find any solution whatsoever to this problem. And this is what we did, we established a procedure and I myself was part of this working group. We concentrated on those members of Al-Qaida who were wanted by the police in their respective countries of origin or those who had already been convicted during their absence.

Die Zeit: How did you take the decision as to who should be arrested?

Michael Scheuer: We had to present quite a lot of accusatory material to a group of lawyers.

Die Zeit: Lawyers? Within the secret services?

Michael Scheuer: Yes, there are lawyers everywhere, within the CIA, the Ministry of Justice, the National Security Councill. We have established a list of targets under their surveillance. We then had to find the person and this in a country ready to cooperate with us. Additionally, the person’s country of origin had to be willing to take the person back. It is a very complicated procedure aimed at a very restricted target group. …

Die Zeit: Did the interrogations take place in the target country?

Michael Scheuer: We always submitted our questions in writing.

Die Zeit: The CIA never really took part in the interrogations?

Michael Scheuer: I have never heard of anything like that. The lawyers enjoined us from doing so.

Die Zeit: Did you not have doubts concerning the use of torture in these countries?

Michael Scheuer: No, my job was to protect American citizens by arresting members of Al-Qaida. The executive power of our government has to decide whether it considers this hypocritical or not. 90% of this operation was successful and only 10% could be considered as disastrous.

Die Zeit: Which part was the disaster?

Michael Scheuer: The fact that everything was made public. From now on the Europeans will diminish their assistance because they fear reading about it in the Washington Post. And then there is this troublemaker in the Senate, Senator John McCain, who virtually confessed, wrongly of course, that the CIA uses torture. And that is how the program will be destroyed.

Die Zeit: Why did you transfer the persons to their countries of origin instead of transferring them to the USA? Could you not have imprisoned them there much more safely?

Michael Scheuer: The crimes they had committed were always acts of violence. We did not have the slightest doubts that those people would be released by their countries. And president Clinton did not want them to be transferred to the USA.

Die Zeit: Why not?

Michael Scheuer: Our leaders did not wish us to treat them like prisoners of war but rather like common criminals. Additionally, they feared that they would never be able to assemble sufficient proof in order to defend the case before our law courts.

If things had gone “right” for this terrorist and the plane had exploded, would the truth have ever been known? Would AQ have claimed credit? (They’re certainly crowing about it NOW, so I guess they would’ve bragged had it been a successful detonation.) Would this administration have been dismissive by passing it off as mechanical failure? After all, the first reports I read said something about firecrackers and seemed to downplay the incident.

Of course, Zer0 is caving and he will continue to cave.

He is first and foremost a lefty politician and he owes his entire existence to San Francisco-type nutroots.

They got riled up pretty bad about the “public option” business - if Hussein suddenly takes a hard stand against the poor, misunderstood, oppressed muzzie terrorists the hard Left will cut him off without a penny.
