this is what she actually said on face book:
“While I and all Alaskans witness the impacts of changes in weather patterns firsthand, I have repeatedly said that we can’t primarily blame man’s activities for those changes,” she wrote. “And while I did look for practical responses to those changes, what I didn’t do was hamstring Alaska’s job creators with burdensome regulations so that I could act ‘greener than thou’ when talking to reporters.”
Yea, but playing “greener than thou” is pretty darn good.
“.....but I was the first Governor to create a subcommittee on climate change? Good grief.”
What do you mean?
Good grief is right. If you're going to be critical of someone and quote them at least have the intellectual honesty to quote them correctly:
"Perhaps he will recall that I live in our nation's only Arctic state and that I was among the first governors to create a sub-cabinet to deal specifically with climate change." (My emphasis)
There is a big difference between your "first Governor" to her statement of "among the first governors" and between your "create a subcommittee" to her "create a sub-cabinet".
No one is asking you to like Governor Palin but to hide behind platitudes of "On my word I love Sarah but" in order to misrepresent her is pretty damn low.
The short-term climate in Alaska has gotten warmer, that is a fact, and given the issues with permafrost melting under homes, that is a problem. Palin simply says that we don't know whether that warming is human-caused.
“...’I was the first Governor to create a subcommittee on climate change’? Good grief.”
What’s wrong with that? So she established a group to look into the issue and see what the facts were and ramifications if any, so that the state might be able to adapt to any change. Being prepared sounds like SENSIBLE leadership to me!
