WASHINGTON - Soon after the Senate opened its long-awaited debate on health care legislation this week, John McCain strode into the chamber to spearhead his party's efforts to reshape the massive bill. He offered Republicans' first amendment and leveled the party's most politically stinging charge--that its cuts in Medicare spending will hurt the elderly.
A day later, McCain took the lead in grilling President Obama's team on its newly minted plan for the Afghanistan war. Why, McCain pressed, had the president set a deadline for withdrawing U.S. troops? "A withdrawal date only emboldens al Qaeda and the Taliban," he complained.
He's been down, he's been out, but Mac is back.
And this time McCain is cutting a very different profile than he did in the past.
Gone is the maverick bridge builder who bucked his party on high-voltage issues like immigration, climate change and campaign finance reform. Now, as the GOP has settled on a strategy of unremitting opposition to the Obama agenda, McCain has been front and center on leading the attack.

Seems all he showed during the campaign was his “reaching across the aisle” side. And he insited that Sarah do the same.
Say What? These lib commies think I was born yesterday????

Last night.
Please John, retire already!
"I have to tell you, [Obama] is a decent person, a person that you
do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States."
U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, 10 OCT. 2008
"I think the Democratic Party is a fine party, and I have
no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy."
U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, 02 APR. 2004
That headline makes me wan to puke.
Yea, sure he is. LOL!
Kudos to McCain, I just hope he & the others don’t waver!
...BTW R385, great pic!
LOL
I agree, but in his few remaining days there, it would be wonderful if he could actually get back on the GOP side.
He’s just worried because it looks like he’s going to lose his seat.
I need no RINO reforming any freakin thing. Kill IT...make it go out of my life if you want to be a leader.
LOL.
Queeg thinks he can get re-elected by feigning conservatism for a year and then joining his Rat bastard buddy Grahamnesty in kneeling before Zero.
Stupid RINO.
I hope J.D. Hayworth enters the race and beats the crap out of him electorally.
You know, the guy is up way past his bedtime...but, we can NOT let that death care get passed. So, I say we let him turn on a late movie, make some popcorn, & have at it!
Not gone. He still supports all of these. And when immigration and cap'n'tax come up again next year, he'll be screwing us again.
He’s trying to tag them on medicare by putting out an amendment to put back into medicare what the Dims bill cuts.
I heard during the confirmation hearing for Ben Bernanke on Wed. that non-discretionary spending is 2/3 of the budget. We are being eaten alive by a program that was originally intended to not leave the elderly destitute but has expanded way beyond that to where we’re paying for power scooters and viagra among the many abuses and it’s rife with fraud.
I wish for once that McCain would come down on the side of right for a change rather than play politics with our money.
Mark my words. Please.
McCain, Reid, Dodd, Louisiana Prostitue, Spector will all win.
It’s just too stacked.
TOOO FREAKIN LATE RINO...Kick him out AZ!! This two face backstabber has gotta go!!!
