NASHVILLE — A man who spent 28 years on death row for killing three people while robbing a Nashville convenience store was executed early today after telling relatives who witnessed his death to “trust in the Lord.”

Cecil C. Johnson Jr., 53, was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m. at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville. Those killed in the July 1980 shootings were the market owner’s 12-year-old son, Bobby Bell Jr., and two men sitting in a cab outside, Charles House, 35, and driver James Moore, 41.

..and too bad Mayor Frank Rizzo (ol'philly mayor) wasn't there;

He once made a fool of the libtard presstitutes by announcing and inviting them to a press conference in which he alluded he would come out against the electric chair.

At the press conference he said ,

"..I am now in favor of the electric bench!"

I agree, but while we can judge his actions while on earth, we have no way of knowing what was in his heart at the time of his execution.

Sounds like George Carlin. He thought they should have an electric sofa, with a coffee table and snacks.

I remember his crime very well from when it happened.

Three victims that were co-operating,one of the three
was a 12 yo boy.

Looked like about 8 protesters at the State Pen crying
for this sorry SOB for the execution on TV this A.M.

An electric bench would be a great way to get rid of a lot of liberal judges.

“...we have no way of knowing what was in his heart at the time of his execution....”

How about some sodium pentathal and other death inducing chemicals for starters.

Sure we do. In Tennessee it's sodium thiopental, followed by pancuronium bromide, then potassium chloride...

***Good thing Huckabee wasn’t the governor.***

Do you remember the “Pardon Me Ray” song and scandle of 1979? The governor of Tennessee would pardon a criminal for a few bucks.

From Wikpedia;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_scandals_of_the_United_States

Tennessee Governor Ray Blanton (D-TN) (1976-1979) lost his reelection bid after exposure of a bribery scandal. Just before leaving office, he issued a large number of pardons to convicted felons, apparently in exchange for bribes. His successor was sworn in ahead of schedule in order to terminate Blanton’s issuance of pardons.
