Leaked emails won't harm UN climate body, says chairman [UN tries to cover Zer0's butt in Copenhagen
GuardianUK ^ | 11/29/09 | James Randerson

There is "virtually no possibility" of a few scientists biasing the advice given to governments by the UN's top global warming body, its chair said today.

Rajendra Pachauri defended the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the wake of apparent suggestions in emails between climate scientists at the University of East Anglia that they had prevented work they did not agree with from being included in the panel's fourth assessment report, which was published in 2007.

The emails were made public this month after a hacker illegally obtained them from servers at the university.

Pachauri said the large number of contributors and rigorous peer review mechanism adopted by the IPCC meant that any bias would be rapidly uncovered.

"The processes in the IPCC are so robust, so inclusive, that even if an author or two has a particular bias it is completely unlikely that bias will find its way into the IPCC report," he said.

"Every single comment that an expert reviewer provides has to be answered either by acceptance of the comment, or if it is not accepted, the reasons have to be clearly specified. So I think it is a very transparent, a very comprehensive process which insures that even if someone wants to leave out a piece of peer reviewed literature there is virtually no possibility of that happening."

Who has confidence in the UN?

Only insiders and communists like Obama.

There was a true believer from the center for clean air policy on C-Span this morning. Callers were beating him up pretty badly but he still said that the leaked Emails were “Unfortunate” but the science was settled.

He said an independent inquiry into the emails would achieve little, but there should be a criminal investigation into how the emails came to light.

a very comprehensive process which insures that even if someone wants to leave out a piece of peer reviewed literature there is virtually no possibility of that happening

This dances around the underlying problem:

The people committing the fraud WERE the "peers"!

The whole fraud revolved around being in control of the "peer-review" process.

One report says that they erased all core data years ago and another report says they are going to release all pertinent data.

Does that mean that the core data is not pertinent to the issue and that the “end justifies the means”?

In the whole series of eye-popping revelations (tampering with data, suppressing access, pressuring publishers, firing editors, blacklisting scientists), the single most eregious and undeniable fact is that the so-called researchers at CRU-East Anglia University have destroyed the raw data. Dumped it. Irretrievably disposed of it forever.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6936328.ece

In the words of the Times (UK) Online:

"SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based."

So "peer review," "transparency," "freedom of information," "consensus," and so forth, have become literally impossible.

I don't see how anybody can dispute that.

When does Copenhagen and the UN announce "It's all over"?

When do the criminal indictments begin?

Well, of course not, the UN is accountable to no one. They get their funding no matter what.

Revelation of the GW shell game might dry up some of its funding, however.

How many skeptics have been invited to Copenhagen? And what are their names?

Climate change denier Nick Griffin to represent EU at Copenhagen

BNP leader who believes climate change activists are 'cranks' will be member of European parliament's delegation

(snip)

In a speech in the parliament last week, Griffin denounced those who warn of the consequences of climate change as "cranks". He said they had reached "an Orwellian consensus" that was "based not on scientific agreement, but on bullying, censorship and fraudulent statistics".

"The anti-western intellectual cranks of the left suffered a collective breakdown when communism collapsed. Climate change is their new theology… But the heretics will have a voice in Copenhagen and the truth will out. Climate change is being used to impose an anti-human utopia as deadly as anything conceived by Stalin or Mao."
