At least three youngsters in Calabasas have fallen victim to violence by fellow middle-school students after a Facebook group urged people to beat up redheads, authorities said Monday.
The first reported incident occurred Friday morning when a 12-year-old redheaded boy was kicked and hit by a dozen of his classmates at A.E. Wright Middle School, Los Angeles County sheriff's investigators said.
Detectives took reports of two more assaults, targeting a 7th-grader and an 8th-grader that day at the middle school, said Lt. Scott Chew. Investigators are trying to determine whether there was a fourth attack, officials said.
The students who participated in the attack may have been motivated by a Facebook message telling them that Friday was "Kick a Ginger Day," according to Chew. "Ginger" is a label given to people with red hair, freckles and fair skin.

It’s easy to blame the Facebook posting. But IMHO, it says much about the group-think mentality that public schools promote that groups of kids would respond to something like that. I just hope that the unfortunate victims of the attack are all right. I also hope their parents pull them out of public schools.
Treating them like a redhead bastard schoolchild.
Its a wonder more of us didn’t die from plunging to our deaths in canyons after strapping ACME rockets to our roller skates.
I was tormented (verbally) relentlessly for my red hair in school. NOTHING like this, tho. I grew to love my hair. Now.....it’s ‘better living through chemistry’ to cover the ‘grays’.
I was a pretty ‘mild’ girl who came from a middle/upper family in town who everyone knew...and ‘assumed’ that I would not fight back. Boy....were they surprised. They also found out what a foul mouth and temper I had when cornered. Never let it show....except for those ‘moments’.
there was a south park about this gingers
Gingers have no soul and can’t be pirates.
It's not. And my eye color has even returned to a blazing green as the wounds of the cataract surgery have healed.
BEWARE.
Racists!
Sounds like a Slytherin plot
Redheads are the forgotten minority.
IMHO, the public schools are hopeless and are long past being able to clean their own houses. People need to stop using them.
I have a gorgeous red headed daughter who was treated like a piece of trash when we lived in England. Ginger is an anagram for the N word and they are really treated bad over there. In the US all she hears is how beautiful she is and how she should be a model, etc. but she is not freckled or pale.
This young lad of highland descent needs to meet alone with each one of these twelve cowards and hammer out his dislike for their craven attack.
People often think that there can be no more reasons to homeschool because so many of our posts sound alike. I found something different that few would have thought of, haven’t I?
(heavy sarcasm)
You are sooooo right. My husband wants them in, tho. I take them to karate classes. :)
Two out of my three are red heads. Which is odd, since my husband and I have very non descript hair. The eldest is in first grade, but has never been teased about it. That could be because the vast majority of her interactions are with other homeschoolers who don’t engage in the herd mentality.
If you check this thread, this is far from the only time something like this has happened. Bullying someone over hair color? It’s appalling and sad.
Maybe some future Freeper should go by the name Tired Of Public Schools.
