We used to associate with a very, very large group of people that had adopted black kids from Ethiopia. Every one of the folks that had adopted children were white. There wasn’t a black person to be seen, except for all of the kids.

Yup. All of the stats show that libs are very stingy when it comes to charity.
The difference between a conservative and a liberal is simple. We put our money where our mouths are. Liberals put our money where their mouths are.

Same here knowing folks who have adopted from Ethiopia and Haiti.

We are adoptive parents of two chinese kiddo’s. Having given birth and adopted...I can assure you that the heart, and that’s the only organ that REALLY counts in parenting, does not know the difference.

Here’s a joke for you.
Some southern gals are sitting on a bus when a group of northern gals get on. One southern gal says:”So, where you from”?
One northern gal says, rather snippily:”We are from Conneticut, and we don’t end our sentences with a preposition”.
The southern gal says:”Ok. So where you from, #itch”?

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the book was awesome. Oher is incredibly lucky to have been saved from certain doom by those true Christians. Anyone who doesn’t like this truth can go pound sand.

I’ll tell you want’s really racist - liberals being unwilling to see the obvious BECAUSE they’re afraid of being called racists. It’s why they were stunned when black people cheered OJ getting off for killing his white wife - and why ACORN easily offers help to rip off the government and help sell children as sex slaves. We get it. We like honest black people and we know there are dishonest black people. We don’t like the dishonest blacks. Liberals can only see “victims”... and most of the victims they see are really criminals. The true victims in the black community are honest people help at gunpoint by the crooks - the crooks who are supported by liberals.

Libs are always hypocrites in these matters, and impossible to please. If someone helps a poor person with anything but a massive government program, they get bent out of shape about some aspect of it, and if the massive government programs fails and causes minorities to be trapped in the underclass or even killed, the libs just conveniently forget about it and move on to the next vicious and unfounded accusation. Here's another example of a "racist" movie as determined by libs: The Frog Princess. Apparently it's now racist to say that it doesn't matter what color the person you marry is.

If this keeps up, in a few years we'll be back to separate drinking fountains, and the libs will be telling us how racially insensitive we are if we object.

It sort of paints, to my mind, the familiar trope of the wise black person healing and fulfilling the pale goofballs, and clearing their emotionally constpated beings. That stuff makes me want to puke.

That's one thing I liked about Remember the Titans.

In that movie virtually every major character had bad attitudes they had to deal with. It made things much more interesting than the simplified "blacks wise and tolerant, whites dumb rednecks" stuff we see in so many films about the history of civil rights. To me it's just another form of soft bigotry, a caricature.

There is a great article (Family Man) in World magazine. http://www.worldmag.com/articles/article.cfm?eid=FF3FCBF6-DC5A-8F19-1458CF381CB77821. This kid made it because neither they nor God would give up on him. I think the “paternalism” slur is levelled at them because the father is a white, conservative, Evangelical, millionaire who escaped the slums of New Orleans. In other words, evil to libs. Ohrer is reportedly a bright guy and was subject to hours of tutoring every day while in high school and made the Dean’s list in colleg.

I agree—I don’t like the super-wise black-stupid white scenario—especially in the contrived phony way of self-loathing H’wood libtards—but I wouldn’t like the same type of thing if it was some gratuitous whites wise— blacks stupid/bad in the same phony, one-dimensional way.

If someone is bad-show them bad if good show them good—I object to the obvious deck stacking in either direction.

One of the worst films I ever saw in terms of racial BS was “A Time to Kill” I don’t normally watch stuff like that but caught it on TV years later-Awful.

“A Time to Kill” was filmed in my hometown of Canton, MS. My family and I sat in the front yard of my mother and father's house and watched “Jake's” house burn to the ground.
Everyone in Canton laughed about the movie afterwords. In the movie, everyone has these huge pit stains. If there is one thing we Mississippians love, it's our air conditioning. Oh and if you haven't already figured it out, Matthew McConnaughey is a real a$$.

I saw the terms “racist” and “paternalistic” in nearly every article. In the Huffington Post, Mark Blankenship (whose bio mentions the NY Times, Variety, and Village Voice as outlets for his writing–shocking) wrote “The song (in the trailer) is called ‘How to Save a Life,’ a title that suggests the trailer’s breathtaking paternalism.”

But affirmative action is OK.

The left is too busy destroying society to keep a consistent and coherent view of their own beliefs.

The reason I won’t be seeing this is Bullock.

The reason I WILL be seeing it is for the cameo with Coach Nick Saban. ROLL TIDE!

Well, it’s a pretty town—the scenery was nice.

Matthew M.is an ass? hard to believe—NOT!

; )

Come to think about it-didn’t that film have Sandra Bullock in it like this new movie they’re talking about?

What really disappointed me was an interview I read with Sandra Bullock. She was “amazed” at this Christian woman’s faith and love, given that she (Bullock) doesn’t believe in organized religion, or some such lib-tard garbage. Sandra, Sandra, Sandra, couldn’t you keep your big trap shut? My favorite on-screen eye candy just dropped about 5 points in one sentence!

Maybe you could cut her some slack.

I think many leftists are truly just ignorant of real Christianity and what most real Christians are like. They have been told stories and read articles, and they believe them. It's just that those sources are wrong.

It appears that Ms. Bullock has at least had her eyes opened a bit, and that's a good thing.

Once Oher learned to read he proved that he was no dummy. He was just never educated. Oher finally read the book, and said something to the effect of, “I don’t want people to think I’m dumb. I’m not dumb. I just never had an opportunity to go to school.”

The other thing that struck me about the book was the poverty in Memphis. I had no idea.

Good point. Guess I didn't see the positive to the fact that she was at least open to understand others' positions. Guess a real lib-tard would be making fun of the Tuohy's!

And I didn't say I wouldn't see the movie, I fully intend to.

I saw the movie this afternoon. Packed house. No empty seats and at times no dry eyes.

Great movie.
