Army chaplain seeks prayers for meaning in rampage

FORT HOOD, Texas – Mourners were asked to pray for the man authorities say went on a shooting spree at Fort Hood, and an Army chaplain exhorted his congregation on Sunday to draw together even if the gunman's motives may never be fully known.

"Lord, all those around us search for motive, search for meaning, search for something, someone to blame. That is so frustrating," Col. Frank Jackson told a group of about 120 people gathered at the post's chapel. "Today, we pause to hear from you. So Lord, as we pray together, we focus on things we know."

Meaning in the rampage:

“The Lord would like the Army to use the brains and guts He loaned them so they can prevent more people from being massacred while in a fort. Oh, and stop coddling the Muslims. They don’t believe in Me anyway.”

(was that blasphemous?)

Lieberman: “If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have zero tolerance,” he said. “He should have been gone.”

I’ll answer his prayer right here...

A demon possessed Islamic terrorist who hates America and Christians went on a rampage that had been red flaged for some time, and murdered 14 innocent Americans including an unborn baby boy...

Is this guy a chaplain, or an idiot?

What’s the reason why people go on killing rampages? Could it be that it has something to do with sin and evil, maybe?

Isn’t it a chaplain’s job to pray for and comfort his flock, and explain to them the difference between good and evil, love and hatred, Christianity and Islam (if he feels so inclined) rather than to sympathize with the enemy?

Maybe I’m being judgmental, but he sounds like some sort of Unitarian Universalist, not a real Christian.

What would ever move a budding Islamist to... shock, horror... take his religion seriously?

What a mystery!

(The bible calls it the mystery of iniquity, but today’s chaplains dare not actually point out a particular faith as the way, the truth, and the life.)

I can help the Chaplain. Ft Hood experienced a mass casualty terrorist attack caried out by a Muslim jihadist bent on homicide/suicide. The same enemy these soldiers face in Afghanistan. If the USG does not get over its PC paralysis, this will happen again and again. As it did at the Little Rock recruiting office. As it almost did at Fort Dix.

Lieberman knows about the Jews’ historical enemies. Truly, one very prominent such enemy is “wild asses of men.”

I think George W. Bush’s mantra that Islam is a ROP is being taken a little TOO far.

Prayers???? We need CONVICTIONS, not prayers. These mealy-mouthed clerics will be the death of us all.

Unfortanataely, most men oif the cloth choose not to implicate themselves into the world and its events. The church is seldom insstructed by them to fight to keep christianity alive by these clueless men.

The problem is that for necessary reasons, military chaplains get stretched almost to a one size fits all pablumoxy. (I just made up that word! I really like it!)

Nevertheless, this spew making, vapid flatulence is what I would expect from Star Trek, not a minister of any kind.

This is what real military chaplains sound like, or should:

“Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen.”

Well, I believe Jesus did say to pray for those that hurt us. So in keeping with that, when I pray for them I ask God to give them everything they deserve in his perfect judgment. That’s it. I trust God can make those decisions far better than I can. Either I will wish a horrid pox on them or try to be so overly understanding that wishing them well beyond their wildest dreams is phony to me and, I’m sure God.

You have to be PC in order to survive as a chaplain. Problem is that the commandment “love your enemy” has never been fully analyzed or explained.

I was told that to love your enemy means that you are not to stand between him and his salvation — that’s all. However, if he/she comes at you with the intent to harm you can stop him/her, using deadly force if necessary.

The problem is that, in today’s PC atmosphere, there are many who want to be more Christian than Christ Himself. And that is the reason that Christianity will lose its battle with Islam.

Say to them, “Be ever hearing, but never understanding;/ be ever seeing, but never perceiving.” Isa 6:9.

So, I assume that SOME of the people who are saying, “We don’t know why this happened,” are being careful to not offend anyone. Like Bush saying “Muslims are our friends.” But some of them must really be confused (I assume, magnanimously) and just dim as midnight? Because otherwise they are all lying to themselves and to us. Surely they are not saying this with a straight face?
