U.S. Rep. Glenn Nye announced Saturday that he will vote no on the House health care reform bill.
He cited costs to small businesses and cuts to hospitals as primary reasons the bill will not get his support. Though he says the latest version of the bill does achieve many health care reform goals, he believes it will not reduce the cost of health care for families, taxpayers and small businesses.
A provision in the bill that Nye believes could lead to nearly $20 million in cuts for the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) was also grounds for his opposition.
Nye joins about 20 House Democrats who publically announced their intentions to vote against the bill.
President Barack Obama summoned Democrats to "answer the call of history" Saturday as the House pushed toward a vote on the bill, holding out the promise of coverage for tens of millions who lack it.
Glen Nye is expecting a challenge from a former Navy SEAL in 2010.
He is on the endangered list for next year.
Here is what the Democrats are doing. They are going to let those Dems from the most conservative districts vote No. That will give them cover during the election next year. But for those Dems from districts that could swing either way, they will promise lots of money come election time in exchange for a Yes vote. Pelosi and her zombies will work the crowd with threats and then promises of sweet deals until they have their votes.

CHKD is big in this area. Glenn doesn't want to rock that boat.
The ones to work on are Tom Perriello of the 5th district that went 61.34% Republican and Gerry Connolly of the 11th that went 55.25% Republican....who says elections don't count. These guys see the writing on the wall and if they don't maybe their voters should give them a hint.
