Attorney General Buddy Caldwell has served a search warrant at the ACORN office at 2609 Canal Street, according to Tammi Arender Herring, a spokeswoman with the office.
Investigators in khaki pants and polo shirts loaded several dozen computers and other electronic items into an SUV. They are also carrying records out of the building on handcarts.
The large office building sits at the corner of Dorgenois and Canal. ACORN staffers were given no notice that a search would be conducted today, Herring said.
"They have been extremely cooperative," she said.
Early last month, Caldwell's office issued subpoenas for records from ACORN's New Orleans office, where the organization -- now moving its national headquarters to Washington -- has long been based.
Today's search is an outgrowth of those subpoenas, which stemmed from an investigation by Caldwell's office into the embezellement of ACORN funds by Dale Rathke, a brother of the organization's founder, Wade Rathke, Herring said.

Looks like the crooks had been packing up the evidence to move it to Washington DC where Obama and Holder would protect them.
I hope those computers have some good info on them. Knowing the competence of ACORN, they probably thought hitting the delete button would wipe out the evidence of the corruption. Luckily it ain't that easy.

But in the subpoenas, the state attorney general’s office suggested that the embezzlement may have been on the order of $5 million, and that ACORN’s current CEO, Bertha Lewis, acknowledged as much at an Oct. 17, 2008 board meeting, soon after she assumed the position.
If this goes to court and Bertha Lewis has to testify, I may take a little vacation time to go to NO and watch the trial. After watching her on TV, it would be worth every dime to watch her try to answer the prosecutors questions.

Translation: all PC's with any incriminating evidence were long ago removed by ACORN, OR...they believe they have scrubbed the evidence...
Just wait till an FBI PC tech looks...they can find anything that EVER existed on a HD, short of it have been physically replaced...

If they are as competent at ‘deleting’ files and emails as they are when advising ‘pimps and hookers’, a forensic investigator will retrieve those in no time at all. Unless you are very familiar with computers, actually ‘destroying’ files and emails is not very easy.

You’re right. PC hard drives have to be nuked pretty much to dispose of any incriminating evidence.

From watching the ‘pimp and hooker’ videos, it is obvious these ACORN folks aren’t rocket scientists. They probably thought hitting the ‘delete’ button was enough to destroy the evidence

Formatting a hard drive or simply deleting files leaves lots of information behind, but there are several very good programs around that will do a thorough job of wiping all data from the device.
KillDisk
Darik's Boot and Nuke
Eraser
Symantec/Norton Ghost has a utility to perform a secure wipe too.
